0026(0004)0005: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: SURPRISES AT WEYNON PRIORY

Martin appeared out of mid air with a sparkling shimmer. He saw his father and at once seemed to understand what had been going on. He smiled for he had dreamed of meeting his father, his mother, in a large ornate palace or other peaceful places. He hugged his father, Uriel, and then his mother, Jasmina. The three of them talked for quite a long time. It was decided that Jasmina would go with Uriel but that she would meet with Martin fairly soon.

The real Uriel Septim VII, and his entourage, were sent through an ancient Waygate long ago hidden in a chamber. Once it had been under an ancient fortress temple, long gone, where Weynon Priory had been built. It was an Ayleid built complex of chambers, hallways and other spaces. TommiTomo led the group through the semitransparent energy curtains of the Waygate and to another realm. Where they went was no longer Tamriel but the Skylands, the exotic realm floating very high in the skies of Nirn. The Skylands were one Skycontinent, three larger Skyislands and nine smaller Skyislands. The QCouncil ruled and ran the Skylands. The disk shaped Skylands were all covered with great transparent domes.

The bodyguard, to be punished, had also ended up going to the Skylands but as a 'prisoner with out chains' being held by his own oath. This meant he was still trusted to some extent and would likely be able to serve in some fashion in future. At least he, and others, in the entourage would have more freedom and would be able to go out to socialize in the Skylands Citystate they were going to.

Martin met with Jauffre, Jadekin, TommiTomo and others in the chambers that the real former Emperor had departed from, along with his entourage. It had already been decided that the complex would become a command outpost, a safe retreat, a reserve storage centre and much else for both the Blades and the Order of Talos. There were other areas down there that could be used and would be so. The Waygate would be used but sparingly and carefully.

Martin spoke of the grave, bizarre, situation in Kvatch. He kept on speaking. “A necromancer, by the name of Pavelino Brown, has gained hold of something called the Amulet of Kings. She is in Kvatch, perhaps in the ArchDome. According to the resurrected woman, who had her head cut off, she has been bringing forth undead entities known as glimmervists that can turn people in something called zombinoids. I saw two zombinoids but they were dealt with by Jadestone and his JadeKnights.”

Jauffre frowned. “The Amulet of Kings is one of the most powerful, and dark, artifacts ever created by any of the Mer, let alone the Ayleid. It is complicated, has many functions and it is said that the Ayleid lost control of it. Why so, I do not know.”

TommiTomo answered. “Because the Ayleid used an even more ancient artifact, a broken one, as the basis to create the Amulet of Kings. The official name for the Amulet of Kings was the Amulet of SorcererKings. The Amulet of Kings was meant to help strengthen and unify the SorcererKings, of the Ayleid, under the Grand SorcererKing. Not all Ayleid Kings were SorcererKings any more than all Ayleid Queens were SorcererQueens.”

The Ayleid did have Kingdoms and that mean it was too easy to assume they were like each other. The Ayleid Kingdoms, that had been in Highcora, were of Kings and-or Queens, not of SorcererKings and-or SorcererQueens. The same was true of many Kingdoms in Cyrodiil. The most powerful of Ayleid Kingdoms did have SorcererKings, SorcererQueens. They were the Ayleid who produced the most powerful and effective of Ayleid power-artifacts, magical devices and various forms of magic, spells and such like. An Ayleid SorcererQueen had created the first metallic humanoids of Ayleid Guardians to protect various special sites. An Ayleid SorcererKing had created the first Ayleid crystalstones.

0027(0004)0006: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: SURPRISES AT WEYNON PRIORY

It was surprising how much knowledge had been lost about the SorcererKings, and SorcererQueens, of the Ayleid even though Ayleid Citystates survived in Eastern Highcora. It was not known by most that the Ayleid had suffered a great disaster of some kind, had begun to decline, centuries before they had fallen to the slave revolution as led by Empress Alessia. The nature of that disaster was still a deep mystery even to the small minority who knew it had taken place.

TommiTomo spoke. “We all have racial memories, of sorts, even mortals like humans. The descendents of the Ayleid slaves have racial memories of something terrible and dark that happened. Perhaps that is the reason that the Empire has failed to look deeper into Ayleid history and into what happened to weaken the Ayleid Kingdoms before they began to diminish in knowledge, power and magic.”

Jauffre spoke. “Just general pride and fear could do as much but I see what you mean; the Empire has not looked deeply into the lives of slaves under the Ayleid. What was the ancient artifact that the Amulet of Kings was based on?”

TommiTomo frowned. “The QSages did much research into the matter. Many QAgents went out on dangerous missions to gain more information. The ShadowTemple beneath Imperiarda (the Grand Imperial City), the ShadowCitadel not too far from the city of Bruma, the ShadowDeep that is the place linked to the ArchDome in Kvatch and others were investigated. QAgents were not killed but some were badly hurt. The results were that much other valuable knowledge was gained but the answer to that question remained unanswered. Finally a rare event happened; a QElder went out into the 'field' and sought answers. She will remain unnamed but she came back from a place known as ShadowZyga. Most of what she learned I can not speak of but I can tell you that she found out that the Amulet of Kings was based on a ruined ShadowStar, a very terrible and powerful type of artifact. ShadowStars existed in the Mythic Era and, in theory, all had been destroyed.”

Jadekin spoke. “So somebody, something, powerful seeks the Amulet of Kings and sent Pavelino Brown to find it only to have her be seduced by it and try to master it. Who, what, did so?”

The answers so far begged many questioned and still left much unanswered.

What was known was that Jadestone's led mission in the ArchDome, and Jadekia's led mission in the ShadowTemple (with Jadedisa) were both linked. That was partly because all of the ShadowPlaces were connected in various ways, had all been ultimately created by the same force even if it did so by manipulating others. That entity was not the TwistedGod, as many had assumed.

How was that linked with the activities of the MythicDawn and the threats facing the Empire? What of the bizarre resurrections of the three Imperial Sons, of the former Empress and Jagar Tharn?

What was the OneTrueDivine that the simulaclone cat creature had spoken of just before he had died?

Martin would go, with an entourage, to Cloud Ruler Temple that would become the base of his operations and his protection. Cloud Ruler Temple was a place of much physical, magical and spiritual security. The Blades, along with other elites, would protect him and serve him. Martin was still shocked to learn he was considered the new Emperor and trying to come to terms with it. Jadekin would go to assist Jadestone at Kvatch.

HERE STARTS CHAPTER FIVE: FIRST ASSAULTS ON KVATCH

SUPER TAMRIEL SAGA

0028(0005)0001: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: FIRST ASSAULTS ON KVATCH

When the first assault came it did so from the ancient ArchDome that Jadestone had set out to investigate, as one of the quests he had to complete. Yet he had not begun as he, and the JadeKnights, had continued to assist with getting Kvatch ready to protect itself.

The Kvatch Guardsmen, the Imperial Guardsmen, the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild, the Battlemages Guild, the Knights Heroica, the Divine Orders and others had begun to prepare for defense. The Count, Countess, and others had been awoken from their mesmerization but the Count and Countess were not great at military matters; they focused on boosting morale.

The City Governor was an old warrior but had only a very small garrison of Imperial Bodyguards to protect himself and the other people of his household. He did have access to five steel golems that he gave over to the defense of the city.

Golems, and slimmer faster golemites, were in relatively small numbers in the Empire but were becoming slowly, steadily, more common. Kvatch had over a hundred of them but only a few were able to fight, were program-conditioned or equipped for combat. The others would help in other ways as would people.

Jadestone had, with some difficulty, persuaded the Kvatch Guard to place soldiers at the big, strong gates of the ArchDome. Mages, battlemages, and others joined them there and patrols went around the walls. She was not the only one who 'sensed' trouble there and many folks had dreamed of a dark invasion coming through an OblivionGate. Except now the dreams, and other visions, had changed. From the ArchDome came hordes of undead and from the OblivionGate came a great siege-monster and hordes of daedra including smaller 'machine-monsters' like lesser versions of the siege-monster.

Which was when the City Governor first proved to be troublesome. A well experienced fighter as he was, he had no real respect, understanding or acceptance of the importance of metaphysical forces such as magic and spiritual ones. He could see the use of forces at the ArchDome as only a dangerous diversion of military resources. His arrogance, abruptness, were soon proving to be his downfall and the forces staid around the ArchDome.

Jadestone was joined by Jadekin and while Jadestone remained close to the ArchDome, Jadestone went off to speak to the official leadership. She soon found them to be fairly useless when it came to dealing with the crisis. So she was soon speaking with the real, unofficial, leadership of those dealing with the crisis.

The first swarms of undead came out of the ArchDome even one of the ancient doors exploded open but these were not the kinds of undead that had been expected. That is they were not vampires, zombies, lich-warriors, wraiths or such like. Instead there were zombinoids of glimmervist infested living humanoids, were zombinors of fresh corpses infested by glimmervists and glimmervists moving through the air as glimmering, semitransparent humanoid things.

Many of those that were the zombinoids, or zombinors, were in the remnants of MythicDawn robes so that begged the question of what had they been doing in the ArchDome. Others were in ruined gear of mercenaries, necromancers and others had had probably been on the same quest as Pavelino Brown had been on, had perhaps been the leader of.

0029(0005)0002: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: FIRST ASSAULTS ON KVATCH

The zombinoids, zombinors and glimmervists struck at the gates in swarms but as they did so they were hit by volleys of arrows, bolts and magical projectiles. The glimmervists rose as high into the air as the could but as they approached the walls, ancient magical wards glowed and destroyed them, burning them away even in the growing darkness.

Then came a woman figure, distorted and shambling, that had once been Pavelino Brown the Breton necromancer. Around her neck hung a garish ornamental chain to which were attached nine emblems, each with a crown symbol that glowed softly. So that was the Amulet of Kings as made from a ruined ShadowStar. It radiated troubling power and magical projectiles dissolved before they hit her while solid projectiles disintegrated.

The distorted figure howled out in agonized rage, pointed a finger at a gate, and from it spat a bizarre glimmervist like entity. It shot through the air, glowing extreme with fiery energy, at the gate exploded backwards. A group of soldiers, battlemages and mages were hurled backwards and it was only magic defenses and luck that stopped any of them from being killed. Glimmervists shot towards the open gateway, towards the helpless enemies, but met Jadestone and his JadeKnights instead.

Jadestone, and the JadeKnights, shot fireballs, showers of magedarts, and lethal magical arrows at the distorted former necromancer. This time over half got through and she screamed out in agony to burn away, the Amulet of Kings falling to the ground.

The glimmervists did not vanish, nor the zombinoids or zombinors, as summoned entities would have done. They did, somehow, seem to become weaker though and the volleys of projectiles slew them all, smashing them and burning them away.

Jadestone made his way to where the Amulet of Kings lay and he picked it up carefully. He examined, frowned and put it into a special silvery metallic inner lined leather pouch. Then he turned and told others the bad news. “It is not the real Amulet of Kings but a very clever copy with an inbuilt curse that would activate on anybody who would try to use it. It is a very old, very nasty trick, to play but one that would not work on anybody with real skills, knowledge and basic survival sense to work with. From what I 'sensed' of her, Pavelino Brown was not such a person.”

It did not seem that the ArchDome was a threat any longer but Jadestone did not wish to take a chance. He called for assistance and the repair work began on the ancient door and the ancient gate. Both sentries and a patrol would remain to guard the ArchDome.

That first assault was one that had been dealt with fairly easily, which had occurred only because of the seduction of a fool by a powerful cursed false artifact. Bigger trouble was still coming and Jadestone was far from the only one who could 'feel' it.

Then came the second assault as through the air overhead swept formations of flying lesser daedra being dragon like daegons and winged scamp like skires who shot fireballs down at people at targets below. From walls, battletowers and tops of buildings shot magically lifted arrows, magical projectiles, tripod-crossbow long-bolts and summoned elemental flying entities.

Some winged humanoids, human like in some ways, swept out of tower tops. These aviaviins were tough aerial fighters, both fighters and battlemages. The fighters used powerful shortbows along with special swords and shields while the battlemages used special battlemagestaffs. The enemy were trying to set parts of the city aflame while below cityfolk tried to protect against such happening.

0030(0005)0003: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: FIRST ASSAULTS ON KVATCH

Nine relatively small OblivionGates appeared first to ring the city in a loose circle. OblivionGates could not just be opened anywhere and so there were gaps in the circle and some of the 'gates' were further away from the city than were others. Daedric forces swarmed out of them, now all in direct service to MehrunesDagon and his DemiDaedra Warlord PenduneDagon. PenduneDagon was too large to come forth through any of the nine smaller OblivionGates.

Reinforcements arrived from Anvil in two big quasimagical airships and five airboats. One carrier airship landed Imperial Marines on the ground who quickly went to battle and aviaviin Hifighters into the air. One airship was a fighting vehicle and dropped elemental bombs on the enemies below while tripod-crossbows shot long-bolts at oncoming flying daedra. The two carrier airboats dropped off tripod-crossbow teams and sappers (military engineers), The three other airboats were equipped for aerial combat.

Both forces, fighting in the area close to the city, were limited in size because of the smallness of the OblivionGates and the relative smallness of the forces in the carrier airship and airboats. Yet this changed as the steady flow of lesser daedra, dremora and subdaedra, continued from the OblivionGates and local military forces arrived from nonImperial cities and other settlements along with forts. Word came that the Imperial 11th Legion was on its way along the Imperial Highway from the Imperial City of Skingrad.

Three larger OblivionGates attempted to open and failed to do so.

Fighting raged through out the forests and other areas surrounding the great tabletop rise that Kvatch was situated on.

Then the daedra began to withdraw through the OblivionGates. The locals made a choice and drew back, letting the enemy escape rather than suffer any more losses themselves in what had become a rather pointless battle. One by one the OblivionGates were deactivated leaving burned areas with some odd leftovers from the rising of the 'gates'.

Quietness fell as tending to the wounded, and dead, began. Fires were fought in the surrounding areas around Kvatch and in Kvatch itself.

Questions arose such as why were the daedra being sent to attack Kvatch, why had hordes of undead failed to do so, what had stopped the bigger OblivionGates from opening and many others of importance such as where could one get a nice bottle of mead?

It was only a very small minority who assumed that the danger was over, even for that one city.

0031(0000)0001: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: BACKGROUND EVENTS

Akatosh came to the meeting, of the Nine Divines, not in a grand shapeform of a mighty dragon but as a giant warrior in ornate dragonmetal armor. A very small metallic dragon was perched on each shoulder, being of electrum. Akatosh sat upon his grand throne, one of fifteen in a great circle of such thrones that looked inwards. The Nine Divines sat there, in grand avatar or SemiDivine form, but also three QElders, TommiTomo (one of his-her aspects), Jadecora of the JadeThirteen of the LuckyThirteen and DemiDaedra Ovroatasa. Ovroatasa represented Azura, Meridia and other Daedric Princes who would not be named for the moment.

Communications were of words, of impressions, of images, of flashes of emotions and were not mortal. Communications were amazingly efficient and the meeting flowed quickly. Following a briefing, proposals were made, counter proposals were made, more information was provided, there were some minor disputes and then a final agreement was formed. This was amazing, had never happened before that the Nine Divines came to a direct formal agreement with any of the Grand Daedra. The other Grand Daedra were named as Namira and Peryite.

The Alliance, along with the Treaty at its core, were only possible because they all faced a great unknown threat and also a great, more known threat of a dark alliance that the MythicDawn served along with other forces.

After the meeting was done, TommiTomo and Jadecora met. Jadecora was the Prime of the JadeThirteen just as Jadestone, Jadekin and Jadekia were the Three Mediates. Jadedisa was one of the Nine Foundationals of the JadeThirteen.

Jadecora stood in a great domechamber where the air itself glowed with light so that there were no shadows. They were in the Spiritual Realm of Greater Diplomacy, as it was often called by mortals who had no real idea about deities and other grand or greater immortals.

She spoke to TommiTomo who was a short, plump woman in a jumpsuit with many many pouch-pockets. She had light purple skin and hair, the jumpsuit and gumboots being dark dull red in color. “Is this really a conspiracy or the result of past events, unleashed forces, acts both wise and foolish?”

“Both and more!” TommiTomo smiled benignly. “Which makes this situation most difficult to deal with. One must be cautious with out being too much so. One must be active with out being too much so. Any form of intervention on the mortal planes must be carried out with great care. One of the Nine Divines has done something foolish and treacherous but now regrets doing so, seeks to redeem himself. The course of destiny has been interfered with including the past.”

Jadecora arched her eyebrows. It was hard to surprise such as her but she was so, even a little shocked by the idea that one of the Nine Divines would do such a thing. “Which one?”

“Talos, the Mortal Divine!” TommiTomo sighed. “He learned that the Empire would one day turn upon him, was informed so by the TwistedGod, and briefly fell under the malignant cunning influence of that one. Only later did he learn that not only would the Empire change back to worshiping Talos again, that those forces, that caused the worship of Talos to be banned, would be destroyed. Talos would have, one day, returned in grand triumph. Would you talk with Talos?”

Jadecora shrugged, just a little. “I will do so but I have doubts that anything positive will result.”

0032(0000)0002: LUCKYTHIRTEEN: BACKGROUND EVENTS

TommiTomo nodded. “Talos is estranged from you, as your son, but you are still one that he will most likely listen to. We can not afford him to do something foolish in his desire to win back the full trust and respect of the Eight Aedra Divines. They will let him redeem himself but they hold him as probationary as a Divine now. Talos has learned that the Thalmor would be responsible for his worship being banned; we need to make sure that he does not secretly target them for destruction and cause yet more harm to the flow of destiny.”

“I will talk to him! I suppose that he has gone to his own Divine Realm of Vandegar. He would want to spend some time there contemplating matters.” Jadecora spoke of his Divine Realm that was part of the Divine Sphere of Divinia of all of the Divine Realms. Vandegar was an almost perfect copy of Skyrim in many ways but with enough changes to have it being a unique world in its own right. “Talos may not let me enter Vandegar.”

TommiTomo smiled. “Under the new Alliance he has no choice but to let you in to Vandegar in order to consult with him about issues that deem to be important to the new cause.”

Jadecora smiled with obvious irony. “Yes, I will complete some tasks, that can not wait, and then go to meet Talos in Vandegar.”

But it was not to turn out to be so easy, as straight forward, as that.
