Launch button dissociated from Primary tool (skse)

I've noticed that the Upper Left Hand Corner game launch button becomes dissociated from the SKSE launcher on occasion.

 

I play in Skyrim SE in offline mode and it always runs the skyrimse launcher after a reboot regardless of the fact that the SKSE launcher has been set as primary. This also happened perdiodically when I was playing in online mode (and this caused its own set of problems).

 

I'm guessing there may be a reason to have this functionality (or maybe it's unavoidable), but I'd like to be able to have the option to always have the SKSE launcher run no matter what.

Well it sounds like you've done everything right.
The way to get skse to run automatically when you hit the p[lay button in Vortex is to make skse PRIMARY in the Dashboard, which you've done.
