Dan3345
Apple has been the bully on the playground for years now and lately their bullying and arrogant behaviour has been really exaggerated. By them, not me. They have been making clearly smug statements and weird tricks to get around court orders. In the UK they were ordered to post an apology and instead they said this. After that didn't go over well with the courts they (England's high court) demanded they retract that statement in 48 hours. To which Apple replied with (and I am paraphrasing here) "It would take us at least two weeks to change that statement." But it gets worse. If you go on the Apple webpage (www.apple.co.uk) you will notice that all the icons are largely blown up, this obviously harms their neat minimalist UI, but more importantly it cleverly hides the public apology at the bottom of the page by forcing users to have scroll down to notice it. This is compounded by the fact that there are allegations that when a UK user goes onto the Apple UK page they are redirected to the US page where Apple won against Samsung and thus does not have to show an apology. I am putting the link to teksyndicate for the apple bloated page down here, because I want you guys to try the apple page for yourselves. Its a little bit more alarming when you see it yourself first. Bloated Apple What do you guys think about this? Standard corporate behavior? Personally I think Apple is out of ideas and this is what happens when a giant begins to fall. Their stock is worth over $600 a share, they could lose a lot very quickly.. veepirate
i am not surprised by this, apple has been using malign work a rounds ever since they made it big. from patent lawsuits and court room circus antics. i boycot apple products from my life since the fifth? or sixth generation ipod. they are abhorrent as a company. but unfortunately they have an image that is rock solid amongst the general public. the problem with apple is that they have no moral guidelines and they will do anything they can to screw their competitors and regulations. the worse thing is that people dont realize that every purchase is a "vote" not just for their product but their business practices as well. and in regards to ideas, well they have always had sub par hardware and a ridiculous internal regulations for their software. and lets not get into compatibility. they are deeply dependent on not not only other manufacturers but their competitors as well, if i remember correctly some of apples components are manufactured by samsung! these are also the reason why they indulge in ridiculous cases and actions, because they have a product with very little substance. intuative design and marketing are the only reasons why apple has become successful. in short they've stopped innovating a long long time ago. their image as a brand is all they have left
Dan3345
The fact that most of apple's internal components are made by their competitors who they are suing constantly is what leads me to believe apple's CEO and Jobs are insane. This is the epitome of biting the hand that feeds you. Samsung makes the screens, Apple sues them, ARM makes the Processor, apple demands a new one and ARM says F off, so Apple threatens suit. Apple goes to Intel and demands they make a CPU line only for Mac's, Intel laughs in their face same deal as ARM. Qualcomm has factory issues (riots, strikes, fights no big deal) and Apple being the humanitarian company that it is, gets on the phone and asks Qualcomm to get it under control at any cost. Meanwhile news of this event hits the states and on Apples webpage they say they are not working with providers who violate human rights practices. JimboUK
Apple seem to be under the impression they're untouchable, they've been like this before and it nearly destroyed them. Apple may be sitting on a pile of money today but arrogance and a failure to innovate may well get them in the end. Look at Nokia, they were the Apple of their day, now they're not a million miles away from being bought up by one of the bigger players, same goes for Blackberry. Something that wasn't mentioned is Apple Maps, this is where their childish bickering with Google directly impacted the paying customer by leaving them with maps that are completely useless, this doesn't only effect maps, it effects everything that uses them. I live less than 2 miles from 2 huge supermarkets, I ask Siri where the nearest supermarket is and she suggests a small store 5 miles away. I ask for the nearest petrol station and get sent to a newsagent, I ask for the nearest pub and it tries to send me miles away when there are several within walking distance. I bought a 4s because I fancied a change, I won't be buying another Apple device. On suing they're all at it, the only people making money out of this are the lawyers. As for Foxconn they're hard to avoid, a lot of manufacturers use them including Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Google owned Motorola Mobility. Dan3345
Foxconn that was who I was thinking of, not Qualcomm. Sorry Qualcomm. And for me its so much that they use Foxconn so much as it is that here in the states when it hit the news wire that was happening Apple made a big point of saying on their website that they took measures to ensure their employees, and producers employees were being treated fairly wherever. Which as we all know, was a huge lie. And yeah I did forget about maps... I don't remember where exactly but I read an article about how Apple hired Google Maps designers to work on there new map service. I almost wonder if Google was pissed at apple and told their map makers, "go work for them, screw up their new service, and when you get back you will get a bonus." JimboUK
I think they hired monkeys to throw stuff at a map on the wall, it's that bad. Thankfully I can still use Google Maps via the web, at least that doesn't put the local convenience store in my neighbours front garden.
ziitch
If it makes you feel any better, Apple isn't invincible everywhere - The argument that the name "iFone" was too similar to the iPhone didn't hold up in Mexican courts, and Apple lost. English source: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/02/iphone_ifone_mexico_trademark/ (Originating source included in this article as well) Another thing that I consider "bad" about Apple is that I really don't care for their iTunes service. Really the whole sad thing is there isn't much middle ground when it comes to either app distributor - Apple has strict QA regulations and has fees to upload apps onto iTunes, meanwhile Google Play is free but is completely umoderated and rendered ineffectively profitable by piracy. Actually, both can be unprofitable unless you're willing to pay for advertising, or put it into your app. I think it would be better handled if someone decides to do something like Steam does, where they could very much have the best of both worlds. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it is Steam that revolutionizes the mobile market! Edited November 5, 2012 by ziitch
thomriis
Apple is a laugh, pretty to look at,But breaks if you fart to loud. My Lil Bro bought an expensive macbook for 4200 dollars I bought a Clevo laptop for 4050 The poor guy already burned his graphic chip twice trying to play Skyrim on high settings while mine is playing skyrim on ultra high with further graphic tweaks without any problems at all. Its beyond me why people willingly pays bucket loads of money for something pretty to look at. If you want to impress your friends make sure your iphone is polished and turned off,Turn it on and the number of friends will be reduced to those with an IQ of 7 or less. APPLE IS FASHION. JimboUK
iOS 6.0.1 was released yesterday, still no fix for the maps, you'd think that would be a priority given how many other things rely on them. Might have a look at the S3 in future if they solve the problem with screens cracking, otherwise I'll see what HTC or LG have to offer.
