mpanga1
Hi, I don't know if anyone can help with this but its very annoying! I have Faster Workshop mod installed, so I can quickly bring the workshop back but I have to do that every few seconds as I move around. I can be in workshop mode and do everything without a problem, building, moving items, assigning settlers, etc - until I move, then the workshop closes after a few steps. It always seems to be in the same places... for instance the building next to the Sanctuary workshop is one place. Go past it and there's like an invisible line I can't cross without the workshop closing. It happens on all the settlements, which are really just Sanctuary, Red Rocket and Starlight Drive In (its a newish play through as the same thing was happening on my last one). Any ideas? StormWolf01
Heyas Mpanga. Sorry to hear about this problem. Sounds like it's a royal pain in the tail! :(I'm also sorry, but I'm afraid that you're going to need to post your mod load order, so that we can get some idea of what we're dealing with. :(
mpanga1
Hi Stormwolf. thanks for getting back to me. Is there an easy way of posting my load order or do I have to type them all out? I have quite a few! Edited December 29, 2019 by mpanga1

mpanga1
I think the problem has cured itself! Well maybe I helped a bit by moving some of the mods, as I noticed that some could be put together for neatness and to group similar mods (I kept a note of which ones I moved just in case I might later have to move them back). Anyway I've just been playing the game and had no problems with the workshop mode.
StormWolf01
Heyas Mpanga! REALLY sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Especially since you did go to all the trouble of typing out your load order. There's a shortcut that you can use for that. There's a file called plugins.txt buried in your computer's files - C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Fallout4\ (yourusername being whatever name you use to log into your computer). It's just a text file, so that you can open it with notepad, whatever word processor that you use, etc. You can then just hold CTRL key, and tap the A key, to select the entire list. Then CTRL and the C key, to copy the entire list to your clipboard, so that you can paste it into whatever you need to.I know that doesn't help you now, that you've already typed it out, but it might help for future use. Also... yeah. This game is VERY load order picky. When I first started playing, I was sorting my mods by what I thought was neatness too. But some of them have to be listed before others, or after others, so as not to have incompatibilities. :eyeroll: But I'm glad to hear that you got it working. And thanks for posting how you fixed it. That'll be helpful to anybody else who may have the same problem. *Kudos*

Yes, hopefully this might help somebody else. It was strange though because I had been playing this runthrough for a while without a problem - until they 'updated' the game (am I the only one who can never see any difference when they update?). I'm actually playing the game on my games machine but I'll get the revised load order and paste it here later. I didn't change much. Thanks again! :)
JimmyRJump
Getting kicked out of the Workshop when walking around is caused when a settlement mod is spread over different cells and you cross from one cell into the next. It happened in vanilla too at Abernathy's. It can also happen when you've moved the Workshop out of it's original cell. But then the settlement would turn up as 'Commonwealth' in the pipboy list of unlocked settlements and the original name is gone.
StormWolf01
Mpanga- I actually keep a shortcut to that file in a folder that I have on my desktop for all the icons for various stuff related to fallout 4. Makes it a lot easier to find ;)There's been some issues with some mods not working since the latest 2 updates Version 162 and version 163.Bethesda changed the way that the game reads mod headers, expanding the amount of ESL containers to (it's either 300 or 500 my brain is a lil slow right now). Which for the most part, doesn't do any of us any good that don't use ESL mods. Or don't use enough of them to be affected by the ESL limit. If you've got some mods that aren't working, because of the update, you can manually update the header information in the mod, to try to get it to work in the new versions of the game. Reveal hidden contents But it will mean that you will have to download and install Xedit. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737/ or open the mods in the CK. I don't use the CK, so I can only tell you how to do it in Xedit. Before doing this, make backup copies of the esp/esm/esl files that you are going to edit, just in case!!After installing Xedit (also I apologize, I almost always typo this as "exit". So I'll apologize in advance if I do, and miss it!)it will bring up a list of ALL your installed mods. Press the CTRL key and tap the A key on your keyboard to highlight the entire list. Uncheck ONE mod in the list, and since they are all highlighted it will uncheck all of them. Now, single click one of the mods in the list, to undo the highlight all. Now, put check marks next to the mods that we need to update. Then click Okay, or Load (can't remember what the button says, atm.)That will take a minute or two.Once it loads all the files for the mods, you will see them listed in the left hand panel. They will have a + sign beside their name. Click on the + to expand the list for that mod. You will then see a file that says HEADER. Click on that, and it will open in the right hand side panel. You're going to want to look for the version number. If the mod hasn't been updated, it will most likely read something close to 0.950000You will want to right click that version number, choose edit, and type in 1.000000 I recommend using copy and paste. Especially since you will be doing this at least 3 times). Also, a big popup is going to spring up, asking if you're sure that you want to make changes to the file. Don't freak out, that's just Xedit doing a double check, it's perfectly normal.Once you have that mod edited, you will have to do the same thing with the next mod. Rinse and repeat until all three have been updated. When you're finished updating the headers, press and hold your CTRL key, and tap the S key. That will have xedit save the changes to the files. Jimmy - good to know! thanks for sharing that! :)
JimmyRJump
Technically, esl limit is 2048. In reality you're limited by the free number of formID addresses and keywords. Don't remember exactly how it works; it's been a while since I looked into it.
