Workshop mode drops out when I move to certain areas

Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help with this but its very annoying! I have Faster Workshop mod installed, so I can quickly bring the workshop back but I have to do that every few seconds as I move around.

I can be in workshop mode and do everything without a problem, building, moving items, assigning settlers, etc - until I move, then the workshop closes after a few steps. It always seems to be in the same places... for instance the building next to the Sanctuary workshop is one place. Go past it and there's like an invisible line I can't cross without the workshop closing. It happens on all the settlements, which are really just Sanctuary, Red Rocket and Starlight Drive In (its a newish play through as the same thing was happening on my last one).

Any ideas?

I think the problem has cured itself! Well maybe I helped a bit by moving some of the mods, as I noticed that some could be put together for neatness and to group similar mods (I kept a note of which ones I moved just in case I might later have to move them back). Anyway I've just been playing the game and had no problems with the workshop mode.

Heyas Mpanga! REALLY sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Especially since you did go to all the trouble of typing out your load order.

There's a shortcut that you can use for that.

There's a file called plugins.txt buried in your computer's files - C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Fallout4\ (yourusername being whatever name you use to log into your computer). It's just a text file, so that you can open it with notepad, whatever word processor that you use, etc. You can then just hold CTRL key, and tap the A key, to select the entire list. Then CTRL and the C key, to copy the entire list to your clipboard, so that you can paste it into whatever you need to.

I know that doesn't help you now, that you've already typed it out, but it might help for future use.

Also... yeah. This game is VERY load order picky. When I first started playing, I was sorting my mods by what I thought was neatness too. But some of them have to be listed before others, or after others, so as not to have incompatibilities. :eyeroll:

But I'm glad to hear that you got it working. And thanks for posting how you fixed it. That'll be helpful to anybody else who may have the same problem. *Kudos*

Thanks very much for the info mate - I'll keep a note and I ever need to post my load order anywhere else I'll know exactly how to do it!

Yes, hopefully this might help somebody else. It was strange though because I had been playing this runthrough for a while without a problem - until they 'updated' the game (am I the only one who can never see any difference when they update?). I'm actually playing the game on my games machine but I'll get the revised load order and paste it here later. I didn't change much.

Thanks again! :)

Getting kicked out of the Workshop when walking around is caused when a settlement mod is spread over different cells and you cross from one cell into the next. It happened in vanilla too at Abernathy's. It can also happen when you've moved the Workshop out of it's original cell. But then the settlement would turn up as 'Commonwealth' in the pipboy list of unlocked settlements and the original name is gone.

Mpanga- I actually keep a shortcut to that file in a folder that I have on my desktop for all the icons for various stuff related to fallout 4. Makes it a lot easier to find ;)

There's been some issues with some mods not working since the latest 2 updates Version 162 and version 163.

Bethesda changed the way that the game reads mod headers, expanding the amount of ESL containers to (it's either 300 or 500 my brain is a lil slow right now). Which for the most part, doesn't do any of us any good that don't use ESL mods. Or don't use enough of them to be affected by the ESL limit.

If you've got some mods that aren't working, because of the update, you can manually update the header information in the mod, to try to get it to work in the new versions of the game.
