i have finally figured this out.

so after a complete removal and reinstall of vortex the problem seemed to go away - until a few minutes ago, when it came back.

i used vortex to download and update a mod.

what happened is the mod was updated and once again, i got the missing masters message and all plugins are disabled, because for reasons i'm not yet clear on, the plugins tab is really slow to load up my list of plugins. i get the spinning wheel, and while the mod is installing the plugins aren't loaded up.

no idea how to resolve that. but this is what i can see in my vortex set up.

the workaround is to simply re-enable the plugins as previous.

Which method did you use to update?

Because I just recently updated around 9 esps, by doing it with my method, of downloading the mod, clicking on the Version Dropdown in the version column of the Mod tab, and clicking on the Screwdriver Icon on the old version and picking REMOVE, and once removed, installing the new version.

This is with a load order of 315 mods.

exactly as you described it mate.

i'm active on the mods tab - so i'm not looking at the plugins tab. i did exactly what you did, autodeploy kicks in - says masters are missing. i go to the plugins tab, i see the spinning wheel and all plugins are disabled.

i wait for the spinning wheel to go away - select all disabled mods, ctl-a and enable them and we're back in business.

no idea why this is occurring even after a complete removal/reinstall of vortex and the mods.
