WilsonBall
I've always had to wait a long time to exit a building. Anywhere between 2 and 5 minutes. Today, I discovered how to avoid that: Shell out to the desktop (Windows key), then re-enter the game. Takes no longer than 10 or 15 seconds. This suggests something about the use of processor affinity or Windows semaphores. If FO4 uses a VM and everything is light-weight threads, maybe their process management is buggy. Or maybe something else. I don't know. The main thing is I can exit a building in 15 seconds! That's huge!
kjenik
I think this will solve the problem: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283
WilsonBall
Thank you, but that does not seem to help much. D3D11.dll is a DirectX 11 DLL and I'm on D12. I think that's where I get the support for my particular resolution from -- 2560x1440, or 2K. So, trying to use D11 was a step down.
WilsonBall
This is, without a doubt, the most bizarre thing I've come across in a long time. And I don't know enough about the software to so any good. All I can do is observe the effects of certain stimuli. Exiting Park St Station: 3:30Interrupting the exit of Park St Station with a massive context switch like shelling out to Windows: 1:00Exiting Park St Station while running in Windowed Mode: 0:50 Of course that last mode renders the game in a window 1/20th the size of my monitor's real estate. So, that's hardly an option. What is an option is to figure out why a MASSIVE CONTEXT SWITCH is necessary to kick this thing's butt into resolving a simple building exit. HeyYou
You can run in windowed mode, and use the 'borderless window' and still be full-screen. I think those are actually options in the launcher, if not, there is likely a mod for it. I use Load accelerator. It uncaps framerate during loading screens, which made a big difference for me. WilsonBall
Thanks, but I couldn't find anything helpful in load accelerator.
StormWolf01
Heya WilsonBall - there's a few things that affect your load times. One of them being framerate. By logical thinking, when you're dropping the game to a smaller window, or to a background task the framerate should improve, with the smaller window.Another thing is the read speed of your hard drive. How fast it can read and send the information from your drive. SSD drives give really good results for a lot of members.Another is how much information is having to be loaded, from the area that you are entering INTO. If it's a large area, with a lot of statics, mobiles, and different effects, then yeah, that's gonna make for a longer load time.Weather in the area you're entering, can also be a factor. HeyYou
Thanks, but I couldn't find anything helpful in load accelerator.Did you try it? It's a FOSE plugin, so, you need the fallout 4 script extender as well.
