Ceolweld
The game starts, and a second after the first clip (like the "Standby" one) starts, it just closes. There is no error message. The game starts properly when every mod is disabled. I accidentally installed a non-English version of the game, can that be the cause of the issue? Also, and I do not know if the issues are related, Vortex gives me a notification about "Missing Masters": "Some of the enabled plugins depend on other that are not enabled". Then it lists mostly the DLC .esm files. The only DLC that I own is Far Harbor, and I do not want to buy others. I tried running the game as administrator or as a normal user, I tried to run it compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 7 (no option to run it compatible with Windows 10, which is what I use). I also tried installing Script Extender and starting the game with the loader, still nothing.
Pickysaurus
If you're using the non-English version of the game, you may not have the correct version of F4SE installed? You should also ensure you disable any plugins with missing masters.

I disabled every plugin with missing masters (I have no idea what plugins are and what they do, but I assume that disabling them also disables their mods, and many of those are important to me), but the issue persists. Maybe I can use something else than Vortex?
Pickysaurus
Vortex would not be causing the issue. Perhaps try disabling all you mods - enable a few and see if the game starts. If it does, enabled a few more. Repeat until you've found the mod causing the game not to start.
Ceolweld
I disabled every mod and plugin that was listed in the "Missing Masters" message and the game runs. That is good, but all of those mods are important: AWKCR, Armorsmith and Weaponsmith, Better Settlers and Quieter Settlements. I would much rather play the game with than without them. Guest deleted34304850
i'd suggest that before you mod your game, you familarise yourself with basic modding concepts such as what a plugin is, what a mod is, and how they relate to each other.then you need to educate yourself on how a mod manager works within that framework.if you just start clobbering files into your game directories with no concept, then what you're experiencing is what happens.also, if you don't have all the dlc, you cant use any mod that requires it. that includes those mods you listed. they need the dlc to work, if you dont have the dlc installed then your game is going to crash.this isn't a vortex issue. StormWolf01
Heya Ceolweld. I am guessing that when you installed the game, you let steam update it to the most recent version? If that's the case, it's definitely not a vortex issue, it's a bethesda issue. They updated the game twice recently, for all platforms of Fo4, and the most recent version of the game is not compatible with some of the older mods.Vice versa, most of the newer mods are not compatible with older versions of the game. You need to manually check, not through vortex, through your browser, the mods that are coming up as missing, to see if they've been updated since the end of November 2019. If they have, uninstall, and reinstall them with the most recent version. However, read through the mods description page carefully, some mods you have to remove their effects from the game before updating the mod themselves. Another factor that can cause that crash is if you are running too many ESL files. Creation Crud Content is probly the most of the ESL files that many users will have. Hope this helps.-Storm Edit- Not having the required DLC will not cause your game to crash. It will just not let the mod install or go active. I think you need a lil bit more coffee there 1ae

Ceolweld
Not having the required DLC will not cause your game to crash. It will just not let the mod install or go active. Judging by my past experience, this is correct, or at least seems more plausible. StormWolf01, yes, I've allowed Steam to update the game, and I know that many if not all of the mods I mentioned have not been updated since November. If that is the problem then oh well, at least I know there is nothing I can do. too many ESL files. Creation Crud Content is probly the most of the ESL files that many users will have Sorry, but I have no idea what ESL files and Creation Crud Content are. As 1ae0bf8 noted - in a bit dickish manner - I am not educated about mods and the ways they work. As far as technicalities go, I'm a "scrub". Ceolweld - Creation club content is mods that you can buy through bethesda, on their website. Sometimes they give it away for free. There's three types of mod files that bethesda games use for mods. Esm, esp, and their new esl files. THEY only use the esl files for creation club stuff. For some people their pay to play mods work out ok. For others, really not so much.
