Vortex Game Discovery Fails Silently

It seems game discovery either doesn't work out of the box as it should or is a bit unintuitive. I started the client for the first time, hit "Scan for missing games" and a bar appears bottom left that says "Game discovery". It's there for about 5 seconds and then just vanishes with nothing more said. Silent exit.

I tried going to settings and pointing Vortex directly at my steam folder (I only have the one) and hit scan. It does nothing. If I change the folder to anything other than C: nothing happens when I click scan for missing games.

 

No idea how to get it to discover my games. Am I missing something obvious?

I figured it out. Was just confused by the UI.

 

What I ran into:

The UI has for games has a section called "Unmanaged" which has a bunch of games I don't have. I assumed therefore that was just games that Vortex could manage, but I didn't have.

 

If I scrolled down I would have seen Fallout 4 was colored in, but since there was no message saying game discovery complete or anything and I didn't see it I just assumed something failed. Particularly since the progress bar for game discovery never finishes - it just gets about 1/10 the way in and stops.

 

Suggest a popup saying something like "Game discovery complete - found X games" or some way of indicating the process completed successfully be added. Or I'm dumb - which I'm totally good with

Also, to point out, you can save some time looking through 80+ game tiles to find the ones that show in COlor instead of Black and White, by entering the first few letters of the game you're looking for in the SEARCH box.
