CelerExcursor
This Skyrim modlist has been created to make Skyrim less of a lighthearted fantasy rpg and more into a challenging dark fantasy rpg. This list will also be small to keep things simple, compatible, and slightly close to vanilla. It may be possible to expand this list further but do so at your liking. Prepare yourself for a much darker, brutal, and terrifying experience. (this list will not focus on retextures, patches, or overhauls. this list will not feature any perk or combat overhauls. some mods may conflict, especially if adding more mods.)(I also highly recommending using SSEDIT with Spawn Remover plugin for monsters you don't want spawning)sse edit: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164spawn remover plugin: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6668 World/Atmosphere:PRT ENB (Found footage): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4743Skyrim Underground: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/131?tab=descriptionGallows of Skyrim SSE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/26542NAT (dark and gloomy climate): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12842ELFX: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2424?tab=descriptionLanterns of Skyim II: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/30817Skyrim Flora Overhaul SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2154Dark Forests of Skyrim SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21934Alpine Forest of Whiterun Valley: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18866?tab=filesReverb and Ambiance Overhaul: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/701Sounds of Skyrim- The Dungeons: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/8091?tab=files Immersion/Challenge:Alternate Start: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/272?tab=filesRealistic Needs and Diseases: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3487Carry Weight Modifier (-150): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2176Skyrim Souls RE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27859Quicklight SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12633DFB Random Encounters SSE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12660Genesis SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23871?tab=descriptionPopulated Dungeons Caves Ruins: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2820Immersive HUD: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12440Remove Enemies from Compass: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/30749Reduce Compass Range: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/28168Bard Instrumentals Only: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58555Lethal Traps: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3860/ Quests:Darkend: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10423Clockwork (SSE): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4155/VIGILANT SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11849Undeath: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6180The Temple of Black Rock SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23362The Dark: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/26353Hammet's Dungeon Packs for SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12186 Monsters (some may not be lore friendly):Rogue-like Encounters SSE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23872?tab=descriptionHunt of Hircine: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16918Mimics: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27711Dementors: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29237Draugr Cavalry: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27241Hym: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/26167Guardian Spectres: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/30772Wraiths: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/24558Bogmort: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22447Rotten Maidens: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27249Vampire Beasts: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29229?tab=descriptionCorupus Victims: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29208?tab=descriptionNecrophages: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27517Red eyes for draugrs and skeletons: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14513Giant Cephalopods: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22702Vargr - a Drauger Hound: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13257Zombie Draugr: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7761Bow Before The Dead - Draugr Sounds: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23419 Menus:(niche/biased)Dark Brotherhood Main Menu: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76216?tab=descriptionBlank Loading Screens: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1852?tab=descriptionNo Main Menu Music: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/24378No Bethesda intro: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1088Classic Start Menu: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13415?tab=files Edited January 24, 2020 by CelerExcursor
anjenthedog
FYI Lanterns of Skyrim II is a far, far better choice than the older Lanterns of Skyrim mod.

anjenthedog
FYI Lanterns of Skyrim II is a far, far better choice than the older Lanterns of Skyrim mod. Thanks, I'll change that up! Better yet, install it and see for yourself before doing so. Personally, I think you'll be pleased, but fwiw, you really need to decide for yourself. If you choose to allow the END aspects of the new mod, it really changes the behavior of ALL light sources at night, aside from the "expected" changes in the included light sources themselves If you're using ENBs that increase contrast at night, you may or not be pleased with those changes. For sure, I made sure to install it and remove the old one. Can't wait to see the differences.
anjenthedog
Ow. I should have suggested that you just disable the original, just in case you don't like the new one. It really is very different. The street lamps not so much, but the changes to how light is handled is significantly different, (as you will see the next time you play and night time comes) Well, I hope you like the new version. I do, but different strokes and all that.
thumbincubation
The dungeons module of Sounds of Skyrim is downright chilling.
zixi
I like your list. There's some I must try. I'd add The Dark which is kind of well dark! And very lonely. It's more of a puzzle quest. But some of that made me jump out of my seat... fiskin1 ported Jokerine's The Mystery of Icebound Crypt to SSE. It's a small quest but quite harrowing and surprising. JimmyRJump
FYI Lanterns of Skyrim II is a far, far better choice than the older Lanterns of Skyrim mod. I disagree. Lanterns II needs a ton of patches and only worked half for me with poles without lanterns in places. The first release didn't need any patches at all. Sure, the original Lanterns had slight problems when using all of Arthmoor's added villages with a pole sticking through a house here and there, but I didn't mind too much. The original Lanterns worked without a problem on a load of over 600 mods, while Lanterns II has 'problems' with half the mods I use.
