Converting a per-user profile to shared

Thanks for replying HadToRegister, I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to get back to you. I'm still a bit confused, so I'll try to explain my problem a bit better.

What I wanted:

I wanted a system where all PC users can share a profile for managing mods but have different profiles for save games and game settings.

What happened:

I thought I had put vortex in shared mode and then made a profile before I started downloading and installing mods. However, this profile seems to be user-specific, so I could not manage downloads or uninstalled mods in shared mode, especially on other user accounts. I did many silly things, like try to copy files from the user profile directory to the shared directory, but I could not keep things like metadata for downloads which I rely on heavily for managing mods. I suspect I've probably done things to make my problems worse, such as running vortex in administrator.

Is there anyway for me to set up the system I want now without re-downloading and re-installing hundreds of mods in shared mode?

You NEVER have to download mods for every profile, once they are downloaded, they are on your hard drive until you delete them.

That's what SHARED mode is about.

Everybody will have access to the same files etc

Just CLONE the profile for the other users to use, then they can just disable or uninstall the mods they don't want.

Check if the video tutorials or the built in knowledge base covers this

I can't seem to manage downloads or uninstalled mods on other PC users.

I don't think I could do that even on the profile the mods were downloaded on when I switch from per user to shared mode.

That's probably the problem

You started out in Per-User Mode, so all of the files you downloaded were only for you.

If you switch to Shared Mode, THEN any files you download after that should be available for everybody to install on their account
