anjenthedog
The most simple way to build a Hearthfire home is to use this cheat mod & D/L the Hearthfire supplies from the files list. All supplies needed to build any configuration you like. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2359?tab=files Much as I sometimes use console to get qty items (or AddItem for singlets), the only drawback is that it *appears you gain mining skills the more you mine, so the extra gems received from mining for a while aren't collected, just as one doesn't get smithing points for creating clothing or armors you acquire via console/other I could be wrong, but I have noticed on four different climbs from low level upwards that mining seems to deliver more goodies (the extra gems) as you do more mining. JimmyRJump
The 'extra goodies' go up with the quality of the ore. Iron is the lowest tier ore and gives you the least interesting gems. Gold, Eboy and Quicksilver are highest tier and give the most and best gems. Can't remember about Stahlrim or Heartstone, but they're better ore as well, so the gems might be of better quality there too. Use the setownership console command when going to mines that are owned and where hacking ore would be considered stealing.
anjenthedog
idk about that. while gems did start appearing as byproducts for "richer" materials (ebony, orchalum, etc) *earlier*, I mined a ton (figuratively) of iron early in the game (ie to about level 25-30) before I got even one gem as a side product. Now I get them routinely, just from iron mining. So while yes, they do appear more frequently with the more expensive ores, even iron mining has changed for me on both of my characters as their levels have increased. I presumed it was due to the amount I mined over time, but it could just be player level, not sure.
JimmyRJump
It could be that it levels out as the player character progresses. I only noticed sporadically that there seemed to be a difference in amount of gems and the quality of those gems for different varieties of ore. But I get more gems than in vanilla because I use a mod that changes amount of pickaxe swings to 27. I get 3 ore on the third, nineth, fifteenth, twenty-first and twenty-seventh strike. Gems, if any, are added on the sixth, twelfth, eighteenth and twenty-fourth stroke.
c0ax599
Yea, I shoulda mentioned, I still "mine" ore like a fiend if i'm traversing the countryside, since I'm out there anyway. I got tons of Gems. :D
anjenthedog
Do either of you remember getting firewood as "bonus material" when you first started mining? I do. PS> I don't get firewood any more at all, and iron specifically, (I don't recall getting firewood for any other mine-able material... maybe corundum early on...) changed from awarding firewood to awarding gems. PS> I don't get firewood any more at all, and iron specifically, (I don't recall getting firewood for any other mine-able material... maybe corundum early on...) changed from awarding firewood to awarding gems.I remember vaguely. But anything that happens in the game is a complete mystery to me, in the sense that of most occurences I don't know if they're vanilla or from a mod. I'm momentarily somewhere in a Nord ruin chasing Vampire Lords and their thralls. Thought the ruin was added by a mod but I found a Dragon Claw which could mean the ruin is vanilla. And for the firewood, I always found it a pity you can't set it on fire. Must be the pyromaniac in me.
anjenthedog
Lol, you can (light firewood) if you have one of the camping mods, but it's still kinda boring because you build a firepit to burn it. You *can't light a log and throw it at a foe or burn down their castle;) - and ftr, just in case anyone is confused by my comment about firewood, I meant that I don't get it from mining anymore...I can still get it by splitting...
