CLEAN GAME

heyas MoonRaker. This is because Vortex makes copies of the mods that you download and install. It saves these files to it's own seperate folder, outside of the game folder.

I do apologize, I don't know where that folder is by default. As I do Not use Vortex. One of the other great people around here can tell you where it's default location is, or how to find what it's set to be in Vortex's settings.

I'm sorry that I'm not able to completely help you out here. :(

Stormwolf is correct. The mods aren't just saved in the usual C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data location. They're also backed up separately in the C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\fallout4\mods folder.

In addition to that, mod traces are sometimes left over even if you wipe those two folders and uninstall the game in various places that the game was installed, like C:\Users\Admin\Documents\My Games\Fallout4. So if you want a 100% guaranteed clean install, you essentially have to track all these niggly little bits down and delete them manually too.

Oooooo! Good info! Thanks Ketara. Kudos given for sharing that. Also for the Booster Gold character in the background of your avatar :D

Blue and Gold baby!

Also, I had a similar problem once when I tried to uninstall FROST. I ended up with snow textures being left behind even after I'd wiped the Vortex folder and done a fresh install of Fallout. Drove me mad trying to fix it. Eventually, I just wiped Vortex, wiped fallout, and spent forty minutes digging through directories looking for Fallout leftovers. I found a surprising number of folders hidden away in places, and lo and behold, one of them had the snow mesh in. I removed it, then redownloaded Fallout. Smooth as Darkseid's noggin.

HeyYou, if you are uninstalling vortex it most likely would, especially if vortex has records of those files. It also helps that it has folders named after it.

Appdata is definitely one of the system files that Revo checks, when more than just a regular uninstall is selected as an option.

Ketara, gawd, it's been forever since I've read comics. What was the name of that little robot that Booster had? It kinda reminds me of the eye robots here in this game. Tho, better built.

LOL well, the process sounds about as rough as Thanos' chin, from what you're describing of having to find the problem files.

But yeah, some of those buggers are worse than ticks. They dig in so deep it's extremely hard to find them. Like, most of the gamers probly don't even know the appdata folder exists, much less know where to find it.
