CLEAN GAME

Heyas Moonraker - Ok, here's some pretty general advice. If you're not confident in doing the file delete, make a backup copy of the entire folder Appdata/Fallout4 before doing any of the file deletions. That way, if you do mess it up, you can just copy everything back in, and try again.

But yeah. I mean, if you want it to go away, you're gonna have to do it.

[Edit] Oh, yeah...I forgot that you're wanting to do a clean sweep. My bad. Yeah, you can just delete the folder Appdata/Fallout4 and be done with it, if you're gonna be reinstalling everything. Thanks for that reminder, Ketara :) [/Edit]

That sucks ? Im not as smart as you all if I get in there deleteing stuff I would %$#@ something up . We need a mod that would run a clean sweap .

That's the genius of deleting leftover nfiles after you've uninstalled everything. You can't screw anything up, because you've already removed the programs! The three places I've named store the vast majority of leftover Fallout and mod files. Wipe those clean and do fresh installs, and you should be okay. If you want to be doubly sure you nailed all the mod stuff though, make sure there's nothing left under C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex.

Guys I was trying to work up the balls to start deleteing some stuff and what do I fine all the files that was removed a long time ago they didn't delete a single file they just turn them off and they are in the Data folder in there own files and I still fine Appdata/Fallout4 or C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex. So I was thanking so all you need is mod that can scan the hole game and delete all folds and file that dont belong to the basic game does that sound right ?

Raker - Read my signature a couple of times.

Make a backup of your folders, before you do anything.

If you have backups, you have failsafes. if you mess up, you just copy the backups back into your folders and just try again.

I've been there. It's a learning experience.

But I have faith in you, you can do it ;) :D

Yep. Par for the course. It's HUGE download..... Trick is, get the base game installed, and running properly, then back up the entire folder somewhere. :D

Raker - Right. The fact that the only thing that Bethesda put on the distro disk, is mostly just the installer, and makes us download the rest from Steam has been something that we've been complaining about since the release of the game. It's a pain. A big one.

When I first started playing, I was playing on a PS4. If ya think that downloading it from steam is a long load, try downloading it through a gamedeck. 6 hours, just for FarHarbor.

Agreed. I have two backup saves of my clean install, with just DLC's. I also have a backup of my current playthrough.

I also backup my folder in the appdata fallout4 folder, and the Mygames Fallout4 folders.

That came in reeeeeal handy back in November :D

Well I got all the DLC's to so it's going to take time so this is what I'm thanking after I down load the game and all the dlc I'm going to make a copy and store it on my computer so that way I got a clean game for when I screw up my game with mods I have a new game with nothing in it . Well that work ?
