Okay, I had a 5 paragraph rant against FO4 and Settlements specifically.

But instead of posting the whole " rant ", I'll only close w/the last part. :)

" ... Imagine if you will, for a few seconds, how much BETTER the game would be if they had NOT put that Screwed Up Settlement in there, but instead invested time and such into QUESTS??

IE: Here are a few of mine.
Deacon - Imagine a Quest to seek out his past life. Find that maybe Barbara was still alive, but a little worse for the pass of time. Or that you helped Deacon search out the rumors of the DEATHCLAW gang still alive and well?
Piper - How did she get there? What is " THE STORY " of her and her sister? What about her parents? Maybe a Quest where we find her parents were kidnapped or killed by the Institute or such?
Cait - How about some background story to her?
Nick V. - We learned a little bit more about him with FAR HARBOR .. but what if we found more about the real Nick V. so that Synth Nick had a better understand of who he " was "?
Dance - Maybe begin to find more about, where he came from? Railroad? Mind wipe? Was there a real Dance that he took the place of?
Strong - Man I hated this character! But, hey, maybe would could move him a long in understanding the " Milk of Kindness ", by having books that help 'enlighten ' him so we begin to see a change in his annoying character!???
Mama Murphy - and quest to understand her " sight "? I also found that originally MM was supposed to be a black lady. That would have been great. A quest to find out that she is related to Preston Garvey as his grandmother or mom?
The Longs - Quest to find them a chance to start over, with adopting a child?
The Institute - This is supposed to be an RPG. What about an option to turn them ' good ' and that they see the errors or their ways? . o O ( It could happen! )
BoS and Elder Maxon - Again, RPG time. How about he sees the ' light ' of the Railroad and maybe Synths are not all bad. Again, RPG mode and it could happen.
See? There are quest ideas that would have been seriously more fun then Settlements.
But I will end on this:
Instead of blasting me, how about some vanilla characters and such that could / would have been great as GUEST ADDITIONS? ... "

Heyas JJ. LOL I love that you bring these up, but need to start putting them in the spoilers section mate ;)

Deacon- I have a very strong suspicion that he's a character from a previous game, and has some possibility that he might show up again.

Piper- Pretty sure that her father died in a Raider attack when she was a kid. Don't remember for sure, her mom may have taken off before then. Don't remember for sure.

Cait - maybe put her into alcoholics anonymous.

Nick - It's interesting that he's aside from Deacon are the only ones who remember before the War. Would be kinda cool to have some dialect about "the Good 'ol Days". Instead of just being smart mouth with each other.

Danse - Hmmm.

Strong - I hate, hate, hate that character. How about a scene where we stick a mini nuke up his backside and send him on the suicider run?

Yeah, MM was supposed to be an African type background, I think. But maybe it would'a been too hard for them to explain how she got there after 200+ years? Why the heck didn't we take her along for detox too?

The Longs- give them "young Shaun"

That brat at Drumlin Diner. Take him along for detox as well.

I haven't played settlements in a very, very long time. I do think tho that they did make a really popular addition to the game. So me personally, I don't think it was a mistake. Could they have been done Betta? Ohhhh yea boy they could have. Besides, without them, we wouldn't have so many Preston Garvey memes

Now there's one ya missed. Preston Garvey joins the rest of his former comrades by falling in the line of duty.

I figured at this point in time, that FO4 has been out long enough, that " spoilers " would be annoying and likely pointless.

. o O ( But I could be wrong .... )

Preston is mentioned in Mama Murphy's post.

As for Strong - I also put with Strong is Curie. I actually, back in the beginning put them in Somerville hoping they would kill each other out of annoyance .... ( or the Settlers would ).

I FAILED .... :P

Deacon remembers stuff from before the war????

Brat at drumlin diner..... Seems to me, that after several MONTHS game time, he should be over the DT's by then... but no, there he is, still sitting on the floor, still whining.... and his mom, still saying 'he'll get over it'...... Sure don't look that way to me....

Settlements.. I LIKE the building aspect of it. I HATE the fact that settlers don't seem to be able to do ANYTHING for themselves.... Of course, it appears that no one else can do anything for themselves either..... everyone asks YOU to do it. Yeah, the "general" of the minutemen takes his walking orders from some guy he rescued.... yeah, that makes perfect sense....... Preston can't find ANYONE else to send off on his 'rescue the incapable idiots' quests??? YOU can't delegate them to someone else???? WHY?????

Cait seems to have an Australian accent?? One would think, after 200 years, her family would have lost that, as so far as I know, there has been zero contact with any other countries outside what used to be the US..... If she is FROM some other country, how in hades did she get here??

.. Ya, I found the kid at the diner just sad. I'm sorry he should have cleaned up by " now " ....

.. I totally agree w/the Cait Accent. I'm sorry - but you would lose the accent.

As to the settlement, the Settlers, I have often been heard, by my wife, " How the h... did these people live past puberty? " I mean seriously, they are totally worthless.

Don't get me started on the Gunners and when they cry, " Daddy!!! " when a bit of counter attack comes at them.

I always 'liked' the whole running off and cowering for a few minutes, screaming "I've had enough, don't kill me." and then shortly thereafter, there they are again, shooting at me...... :D

I agree with your wife. :D

JJ- Yeah, I myself don't care too much about spoilers. I'm thinking the staff isn't as hard about it as they used to be back in the day, either.

Patrick is the name of the kid at Drumlin's. I came across his name on a mod that I gave up on that I was trying to make him and Simone killable without setting off their vendors to attack you.

Hey now, that's no way to talk about many of our teenagers! Oh wait....was that out loud?

About the accent. Yeah, with Curie, it's programmed in. But Cait has no excuse other than "flavor". I swear the voice actress for Curie sounds almost exactly the same as the actress who did the French twins for Midnight Club 2. Except without the flirty lines they had from RockStar Games.

LOL the last time I did settlements was still on the PS4. I'd shoot any settlers that showed up. "It's MINE, and you can't HAVE it!"

Funniest experience I've had with a gunner is one managed to sneak up on me. I turn around, and he whacks me a damned good one with a super sledge that put me on my butt. Then turns around and runs off! Ticked me the heck off, let me tell ya!

Deacon does some lines about things from before the war. Supposedly, he "read it" somewhere.
