Fallyhn
I've spent the last couple days tracing down this error and it's come to this: The game freezes during the tutorial mission when launched from Vortex, but not when launched from the desktop shortcut. It doesn't matter if I have any mods enabled. I even completely wiped the game from the computer and re-installed it from Steam. I was able to get through the tutorial mission if I launched from the desktop shortcut. If I launch it through Vortex, even with the clean install with no mods enabled, I get to the point where the male character carrying the body gets outside of the grenade hole in the wall. At that moment it freezes before continuing to the Alien's turn. It freezes in this exact same spot every time, but only when I launch through Vortex. To make it more interesting, I can enable a couple mods for a test, go back to the desktop shortcut, enable the mods in the XCOM launcher that comes up, and play through the tutorial without issues. If I launch the game through Vortex with the same mods enabled (literally no changes have been made), it freezes at that exact same spot described above. This was happening with the original launcher settings in Vortex that cause a series of redscreen errors to come up in the game at the main menu and in the tutorial mission and continues to happen after I added switches to the launcher disable the redscreenmode. Is there a way to fix the Vortex game launcher so that it doesn't cause this freezing issue? Should I just enable whatever mods I want to use and launch the game from the desktop shortcut instead of Vortex?
HadToRegister
You don't need to leave vortex running or launch from Vortex once the mods are installed. So if you're able to play with mods installed without runninging Vortex then go ahead.YOu can still use Vortex to manage your mods
Fallyhn
Thanks. That's kinda what I've been leaning toward now that I've gotten that far in testing. Thanks for confirming that it's the right track to take.
