WebbProductionsEntertain
Hello so for a while I have been playing on a heavenly lore friendly modded game of Fallout 4. I'm thinking it's because I have a lot of mods, around 230 of them. i also have an ENB and the preset is the Fallout 3 style preset that is on the Fallout 4 nexus. This is what I have for my laptop information, sorry if I miss somethingGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060GPU driver version 26.21.14.4259CPU: Intel® Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz16 GB RAM I have all dlc installed, and I use Mod organizer 2 Here's my load orderlevelup menu exmod configuration menu Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch HUD Framework ArmorKeywords Lucky loot Underwear Capital Wasteland Vault Outfit Pack Horror ghouls sounds AO Robco Recon Scope Sim Settlements Gatorclaw Revamp Tougher Vertibirds- Damage Threshold Holotape Display shelves Pack Attack NPC Edition Extended Dialogue Interface Capital Wasteland Workshop Pack Fallout 3 style pip boy Raider Armors Retexture Companion Inventory Weight SavrenX Better Robot HD Lierty Prime retexture Holotime Quieter Settlements Craftable Ammo Longer Power Lines Rich Merchants Settler and Companion Dialogue Overhaul Unlimited Companion Framework Companion Infinite Ammo Stronger Radscorpions No Radscorpion Tunneling Valdacil's Item Sorting Armorsmith Extended AWKCR Fallout 3-NV Feral Ghouls replacer Scrap button Fallout 3 metal armor DC Guard Outfit Override Third Person Revolver Audio Fix More where that came from- Diamond city radio edition Alternative Assault Rifle Properties (AARP) Replacer Version Boston FPS Fix Tales from the Commonwealth No More Birds Mojave Imports Super Mutant Redux Diamond City Expansion Fog out - JimmyRJump
Not much that can be done, except go easy on the texture mods and don't go walking around with three or four companions in tow. The more people moving about in the same space will tax your computer and drop framerates. Besides that, FO4 is badly optimized and eats V-RAM as if it grows on the trees. MissingMeshTV
Boston FPS Fix should be at the bottom of your load order, are at least close to it. Re-read the mod description for clarification. If you're using mods that break precombined meshes (and I see a couple in your load order: Tales from the Commonwealth and Eli's Armor Compendium) and they are below FPS Fix, they will override all of the optimization that FPX Fix rebuilds and give you the lousy frame rates you're getting, negating the reason to be using FPS FIix. The downside is, that having FPS Fix lower in your load order will probably override (or obscure) any changes made by those mods, but you should get better performance in those cells. Example: Tales from the Commonwealth disables the optimization for one or two two cells (can't recall it its one or two offhand) across from Easy City Downs because it makes changes to a building facade for one of its quests, and doesn’t have regenerated the prcombined/previs data to restore it. The FPS in that area can be awful as a result. Presumably, FPS Fix includes regenerated data for those cells (I don’t know for certain, as I’ve never found the need to use FPS Fix myself). Having TftC below FPS Fix will override all of the optimization data that FPS Fix aims to restore. Moving FPS Fix below TftC will restore the optimization and improve performance, but you will likely loose the changes made by TftC, or they may be obscured and/or covered by the vanilla items that FPS Fix has baked into its optimization data. You’ll want to test this out yourself. The same goes for Eli's Armor Compendium for the cell with the shop, but much less drastic. Any vanilla refs restored by the FPS Fix should be limited to the debris and rubble that the mod removes. The load door to the shop and all the other additions around the shop should be fine, but again, you want to test this out for yourself. There is no alternate path when dealing with this game’s optimization system. You either use mods that break precombines and suffer the performance consequences, use the FPX Fix that is based on vanilla references and have it override the changes made by the mods that break them, or choose not to use the mods that break the optimization in the first place. In that case, there is no need to “fix” what isn’t broken and the game performs perfectly fine. The other option, is to learn how to use the CK to regenerate the precombines/previs for those mods that break them. I made a video on how to do this a while back that might help get you started. In your case, I’d suggest you start by re-reading the info on the Boston FPS Fix page regarding proper load order placement of the mod and go from there. WebbProductionsEntertain
Thank you for the feedback. In some cases my computer before had this game running a great fps. But then I realized that it was focusing on performance rather than quality which is the reason why most of the game was running at a great fps before. Now I've configured my settings to where things run for performance again. I will check on Boston fps fix and see what I need to change in my load order. StormWolf01
Heyas Webb. Is this an issue that just grew suddenly? If so, what's changed since it started? And I don't mean just your game, I mean your entire computer. Edit- LOL You ninja'd me!So did the drop start after you reset for performance again? WebbProductionsEntertain
Listen at this point I got my game to work. But I also use my laptop for college work. So that's a problem all on its own. But my computer has been better since. Thanks for asking Wolf! :)
StormWolf01
Ok so this is on a laptop? Are you using an external monitor with it when you're gaming?LOL No problem bud. :)
WebbProductionsEntertain
I don't have another monitor. YouTube gamer level has not been reached yet
StormWolf01
Webb. Ok gotcha. The reason that I asked was that sometimes plugging a monitor in can mean having to make some changes to the video. Or, in some cases, if you plug the monitor in, incorrectly, it can cause a lot of problems with the video.Tho, since you don't have one, that's obviously not the case for you ;)
JimmyRJump
Don't use Boston FPS Fix when also using settlements added by mods. Boston FPS Fix eliminates pre-combines in down town Boston to lighten the load (separate meshes are being melted into one big mesh/texture so the GPU doesn't have to load hundreds, if not thousands of separate files) and this somehow clashes with settlements that have pre-combines for scrapping purposes (again, separating large textures into individual ones so you can scrap parts of a house, for example, instead of having to do away with the whole building in one go) Another problem can be LOD flicker in settlements when using Boston FPS Fix, after having scrapped items with a scrapping mod that normally cannot be scrapped and the game still tries to pre-load the deleted items, making the background where the scrapped item used to be show a hole in the environment texture in rapid on/off instances. Being an avid Settlement mod user myself, I quickly did away with Boston FPS Fix, not because it's a 'bad' mod but because of the problems I had between Boston FPS Fix and other mods I used, like settlements names turning into 'Commonwealth', making them useless because settlers can no longer be sent to the affected settlement and supply lines get broken. Downtown Boston (especially around Swan Pond) is a horror to go through (like when following the red trail to the Old North Church past the small graveyard with the Ghouls and near Goodneighbor). That area alone made me do away with my R7970 Lightning because its 3GB of RAM weren't sufficient and the game constantly went belly-up when trying to go through that area.
