Trying to Make a Dang Coat!

So I recently attempted to make a small clothing mod of my own: a red pirate-like coat that I could wear over underarmor-type outfits like the harness or the vault jumpsuit. But thus far, I've run into a bit of a snag.

Here's what I did: I took the "Raider Scarlet Barefoot" outfit (second from the left) from Crimsomrider's "Clothing of the Commonwealth" mod, went into Outfit Studio, and deleted the needless bits (the feet, the pants, and the bare bit of upper chest area), then I molded the corset so it sunk into the torso, hiding it from sight (I didn't want to delete it completely in case i messed up) and making it look like the player character was simply wearing just the coat itself.

It looks fine in both Bodyslide and Outfit studio, but I'm having trouble making it cooperate in-game. I want to make it a separate item from the underarmor, so I could wear the coat over a vault suit or something similar. So I went into FO4Edit and changed its Biped Body Template from "33 - BODY" to "55 - Unnamed" so I could wear body armor over it as well. But when I try to equip it in-game, it's invisible. I tried changing its Biped attachment to other things- Torso, Arm, Shield, etc. but nothing worked. Setting it to 33 - BODY makes it appear in-game, but it also makes my body below the neck invisible, so I'm basically just a floating head and coat.

Did I miss something? Did I mess something up in Outfit Studio? How do I make this dang coat cooperate?

I'm thinking that it might be because of what you're saying about what you did with the corset. A lot of times, items like that still have parts of the body mesh attached to them, that aren't visible in the game, because those parts of the meshes are covered with a pure black texture. Which turns them invisible.

Essentially that model may have parts to it that you won't see except in a 3d model editor. Such as the neck, and lower body.

In some games (don't think it's required for this one though) it's required to make the animations and bones still line up correctly.

As far as why none of it will be visible using some of the other body slots, it's because the meshes weren't made to be used in that area of the body. Like for iinstance, if you set a pair of boots to use the mask slot, they will go invisible because their's no mesh for them that fits to the head.
