TyrantOf1969
would it be possible for a modder to take the animations of the spears in the dragonborn DLC and make a proper spear mod, because as i played Dragonborn on Xbox the spears were just big useless arrows, so when the DLC does come out for PC can some one make a real spear mod, one that actually looks and feels like a spear... Deleted1308005User
Nope. Modder's can't add wholly new weapon types in-game. It'd replace already existing weapon type, for example: HammersAnd even if it would be possible by doing that, nobody seems to want start such a big project. As it means every weapon of the said type should be changed to spear version and so on.. Also, "take the animations of the spears", what do you mean by that? Take the animations from Rieklings or what? Could you explain a bit closer. I + many others don't have currently XBox and Dragonborn DLC, so it's a bit unclear to me what you mean by that. Spears have been requested many times, and there is some already. (Though they use greatsword animations, even if axe or hammer would be much better)I don't know why TBH.
jack013
Reiklings stab and throw the spears. For players they just replace arrows, on a bow.
Ghola8
I think once Dragonborn hits the PC, you'll see this change. Whether actually in the vanilla game or not, I'm not sure, but I have a feeling a month or two after the release, someone will lock down the throwing animation and make it happen. I just want the melee version, personally. And I would gladly replace one of the other weapons to get it. Warhammers, maybe? I never cared for those. Dudeman325
I don't think Dragonborn has the proper spear animations to just copy over from Reiklings to Humanoids. They just don't have the same body structure. Maybe with some tweaks, minor or major... I just can't say. I'm sure if it was just as simple as a cut / paste job, it would have just been part of the DLC. Beth seems intent on "making spears right," and from what I've seen with mods that add spears, they have a point in that the combat system just isn't there in the game's code to properly use a reach weapon of the length of a spear (and the weak inside of a spear) that it just isn't that simple yet. heyiforgot
If a weapon type must be replaced then so be it, replace the staffs, the magic people can still cast with their hands and magic is lame anyway. LordSarcasm
One mod I know of uses spear models with some custom animation that they borrowed from staff casting animations. It looked really good and was immersive enough but there were just too many bugs towards the end to actually make me feel like keeping it on my mod list.
