Newbie Vortex question

Haven't played games on computer in a long time. Last time I used Nexus was when Fallout New Vegas came out. I played Fallout 4 on PS4 so I thought I would try it on the computer. (better mods). I haven't got the game yet but I decided to download some mods from here first. I saw two ways to download the game (vortex and manual) I didn't know what Vortex was because the last time I was here there was mod manager. So I downloaded the files manually and unzipped them or whatever way they were packaged. Then I learned what Vortex was. I have downloaded the Vortex .exe file but haven't installed it. So my question is can Vortex still install the files after they have been unpacked? I am a senior citizen so it took me some time to figure out Nexus Mod Manager. Thanks

hi, i have similar question in which i have installed a mod manually & deleted the installation before i use vortex. after i started using vortex, i noticed that vortex is unable to detect the mod i mentioned & thus unable to manage the mod. so how do i get vortex to detect & manage the mod?

No, Vortex can't install an already unpacked mod.

1. Install Vortex, set it up to manage the game you want to mod

2. Go into SETTINGS---->MODS--->set your Mod Staging folder to the same drive as the game you're going to be managing

3. Go into SETTINGS------>DOWNLOADS--->set where you want your download folder to be.

4. Open Vortex, click on the MODS tab, drag the ZIP, RAR, or 7Z file to the DRAG FILE area of Vortex.
