Integrity of game files & CTD's - Please help needed!

Long story short...

 

Used to play FO for years with mods, learned load orders and hunt bad mods and conflicts. Then I decided to buy new PC to get better graphics, and the problems started.

 

I did totally new clean installations of Nvidia, steam, game, NMM and mods into new PC, everything looked ok and seemed run ok when testing. (I have steam, game and mods installed to D drive, while windows is on C drive.)

 

Im running 188 plugins (esm+esp) of mods I used to use long time, without conflicts I can find. (my load order pasted below)

 

PROBLEMS:

 

With my old PC, the steam's integrity check of game files found nothing missing 95% of times I checked. Now almost every time I do check, multiple files have been missing.

 

With new game play started after exiting vault, I get CTDs if I start scrapping trees at Sanctuary etc...

 

I have gone everything thru multiple times, and looked for solutions from web... Without able to find what causing these?..

 

Mostly I would like to find out, what is causing game files to go missing constantly?

I seem to recall that workshop framework had some issues..... Also, the last mod in your list, FO4 No Pre Vis is going to cause performance issues.......

I have been using FO4 No Pre Vis long time, without any huge FPS loss. Im using Scrap Everything, and I do scrap a lot in mod added settlements.

Now I have 2x faster rig, so I can't think CTDs are caused by performance problems. Especially disappearing game files...

 

Workshop Framework I could drop off easily, I did download it as req for Snike's Camp Dynamic... Need to ask author how critical WF is as req.

Started yesterday a new game, walked around Sanctuary, did quest with Codsworth, scrapped few objects and saved the game.

 

Today Im trying to open that save, and game crashes while loading.

 

Papyrus script log is hard to read, last 10 lines before crash are:

Then checked for missing game files, but this time none were missing.

Now Im totally lost, while trying to find the cause for my problems...

 

I cleaned my system from game, steam and NNM... Cleaned all and did re-installation of steam and game, then I started to check DLCs with FO4Edit... After quick cleans I did "check for errors" and all major DLCs had huge number of errors.. (Nuka had over 400 errors)

 

When downloading the game and DLCs, I had only windows defender running.. no 3rd party anti-virus softwares.

 

I did start game as vanilla, and played until vault exit.Then I went to check game files integrity again from steam... 7 files missing!... wtf?

 

I did install F4SE and tested launcher etc, all looking good before re-starting with mods... But I hate to waste time again with mods, before I can find cause what makes game files to go missing...

 

Please any advices?..

Heyas Mikki. Ok this is crazy. I can imagine that it most likely has you pulling your hair out, trying to figure out what is going on! :sad:

So here's a couple of things I thought about while reading over this. [Edit] Heh, ok... maybe "a couple" was a bit of an understatement....[/edit]

 

1) Is D) an internal or external drive?

a) have you run a check on the drive to verify it's integrity/Check it for faults?

 

2) Have you checked to see if the files are being deleted? As in, looking in the recycle bin to see if they are there?

 

3) Have you verified that there is full access to the drive that all of this is going on with? Like making sure that everything has full access/administrator access.

a) Have you also checked to see if the folders in question are set with any ticks like read only, archive, etc?

 

4) Have you looked at your Windows Event viewer logs, to see if that may give you some idea of what's going on? https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-use-windows-10-event-viewer.2752289/

 

5) Do you have any other steam games installed? If so, are any of those giving you problems?

 

6) Is your windows 10 fully updated? If so, have you checked to see if there are any patches that have been applied that can cause issues with video games? (Yes, there are a couple of them!)

 

7) Save yourself some time. After you've got a clean verified install of the game, make a backup copy of the folders and files.

 

8.) Are you always launching the game through steam? You mentioned f4se. Are you loading the game through it?

= Internal drive I move from my old rig to new one, worked very well always.

= Yes I have run different checks without finding anything, disk responses well to optimizing and defragmentation.

= Nothing is deleted manually, but Im thinking that Auslogics Registry Cleaner could remove something. Stupid Steam does not tell what files were missing and what it will reinstall... Im testing now different stages and not using registry cleaner, to see if this can cause missing files.

= Yes all user profiles have full access to D drive.

= I never looked those logs, I need to look into this more if problems continues.

= I have X4 Foundations, and there's no problems with that game at all.

= Everything is fully updated with OS and all possible drivers. Only possible problem area I keep reading from web is graphics drivers, posts are quite old but claiming that sometimes latest Nvidia drivers are causing issues... When 90% of web is telling to always use latest drivers.. =/

 

7) Save yourself some time. After you've got a clean verified install of the game, make a backup copy of the folders and files.

= I don't see sense to make duplicates from loaded data, without knowing anything about possible source for ctds.. Anyway I can download any files from Steam quickly. (whole game + dlcs takes 45mins)

 

8.) Are you always launching the game through steam? You mentioned f4se. Are you loading the game through it?

= I never launch game from Steam, I always launch it using F4SE launcher. I have Steam set to stay offline while I play.

 

 

Currently I have game and DLCs installed clean, and now Im downloading mods into NMM 0.71.20 manager. I will not be using Auslogics registry cleaner now, and I keep running Steam's integrity checks.. Trying to find cause for missing game files, before I start looking for mod conflicts... I do download all mods first with FOMOD into NMM, but all large size mods I also download manually replacing BA2 archives just in case.

 

I will post here what happens... this is really pissing me off. Went to buy better rig for better graphics, and now I cant play the damn game. =(
