The Elder Scrolls - Downgrading

Hello.

My main PC is now out of service, so I had to begin using this ancient PC, (Pentium4 3.0GHz, 2GB RAM, FX5200 128MB, WindowsXP-32)

On my main PC I had Skyrim but this old PC can't run it. At least it can run Morrowind at 800x600. So, as you may imagine, it feels very ankward to migrate from Skyrim to Morrowind.

My question is: Is there any mod(s) to make Morrowind behave a bit like Skyrim? I don't want it to look like Skyrim, with ReShade FX and HD stuff, I just want it to feel like Skyrim, you know, better GUI, better combat dynamics (Morrowind combats are so f- horrible), maybe swords for hire?, maybe a faster character, better animations, etc.

I don't have many recommendations to make Morrowind more like Skyrim (I think Morrowind > Oblivion > Skyrim myself). But if you haven't already install Morrowind Code Patch to fix bugs and a few broken game mechanics, and Patch for Purists to fix many more bugs. Also Morrowind Optimization Patch to improve performance with optimized meshes (definitely use the Lake Fjalding esp to improve performance in that area), and Project Atlas to definitely improve performance in certain areas. With this setup and vanilla textures at least performance should be okay. I don't think MGE XE distant land is a good idea on your machine.

There is a mod called Skyrim UI Overhaul. It doesn't actually change the functionality of the UI, just its appearance. And Skyrim Style Splash Screens.

UI Expansion enhances the UI in useful ways, and should be pretty performance friendly because it's an MWSE-Lua mod. Install MGE XE and update MWSE, but you don't need to use MGE XE's performance demanding features like distant land. (Actually I'm not sure if MGE XE will work at all on your system, but you should be able to just install the latest MWSE directly.)

I have a problem. I 'injected' these things to my game: Supreme Follower System, MWSE, MGE XE, Accurate Attack 1.2, Morrowind Code Patch and Skyrim UI Overhaul.

It all worked well, but it turns out that MWSE can only be loaded by MGE XE *BUT* MGE XE 'is not a valid Win32 application'. It looks like it's x64 or for Win7 and over.

Any ideas?? I just broke my game.

I was afraid MGE XE might not work, but I thought MWSE could be loaded on its own?

The file causing the issue was "SFS - 2.0.ESP", which is the Supreme Follower System. Also, I had to disable "XE Sky Variations.esp". The game seems to run without problems (I didn't played it for too long, like 10 minutes, I didn't save either).

Now the only activated files are:

Morrowind

Tribunal

Bloodmoon

Accurate Attack v1.2

SFS - 2.0 Disabled

SFS - Rogues Disabled

XE Sky Variations Disabled

You'll see the error message "Trying to RunFunction index greater than function count" when trying to run mods made for Tribunal or Bloodmoon with base Morrowind, or trying to run a MWSE mod without MWSE etc.

The game's basically saying it came across a function in a script that hasn't been defined.

I think I just solved the issue.

When you're looking for MWSE on Google it shows this page: https://mwse.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installation.html

At the bottom of that page you read: "Previous versions of MWSE came with a launcher, which is not needed if you use MGE XE. It is highly recommended that you load MWSE through MGE XE. If this is for some reason impossible, the old launcher can still be obtained from a an older version."

I followed that link and came to a previous versions. I downloaded "MWSE v0.9.5-alpha.20171114" (0.9.5-alpha.20171114.7z). This version includes a launcher which is compatible with WindowsXP 32-bit.

Now I can play the game without issues. I'm afraid that some mods out there might crash since they might need a newer version of MWSE.

At least the mods I use seem to work properly.

On another topic, last night I tried to make my own follower at Seyda Neen (Only needs Morrowind.esp, Bloodmoon.esp and Tribunal.esp). I managed to make her spawn, she talks to the player and gossip, but there's no option to make her follow the player.

From what I've read on the internet and some .pdfs, it turns out that you need to script a dialog to make the NPC follow the player... jeesh... I miss the Skyrim's Creation Kit, it was far easier to create a follower.
