Log in problem that SEEMS to be different than previous posts

I was logged in to Nexus, but I logged out from Vortex to see if it would display my new Nexus photo when I logged back in through Vortex.

I can't log back in. On the top right, I click Log In, and it takes me to my profile on Nexus but I get no popup whether I am logged in to Nexus or not.

Since I get no popup, I can't do this: "If the authorisation page will not open, Vortex will give you a link you can copy to open it yourself."

Since I get no popup, I can't do this either” If you’re still not able to login using this method, you can click the “Not working? Try manual login option.”

In Dashboard, on the right, below the red circle saying “log in” when you hover over it, the larger orange circle says “Log Out” when I hover over it. (and clicking on it does nothing)

What I have tried:

Chrome IE and Edge and disabled popup blocker

Manually downloaded Vortex and installed over the current Vortex install. (1.1.15)

Signed out and back in Windows

Rebooted

Is there any way to manually get a screen to pop up so I can put in the API?? (or is there anything else I can try?)

Thanks!

Can you report this through Vortex's feedback system (menu in the top right) and attach your log file. I once managed to go my Vortex into a similar state to what you're explaining but a fix was put in place to prevent it from happening again.

If you can deal with the command line this is how to fix it:

- Close Vortex

- Open command prompt

- type

cd C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex

(or whichever folder you've installed Vortex into)

- then type

Vortex --del persistent.nexus.userInfo

(you should be getting a couple of lines like "removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.email")

- start Vortex again

Pickysaurus: Thank you, I will do that ! (I do want to ask Tannin42 (or anyone) a question first:)

Tannin42: I did what you suggested but instead I got a not found error: (any ideas??)

C:\Windows\system32>cd C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex

C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex>vortex --del persistent.nexus.userinfo

C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex>

info: Epic games launcher not found error=The system cannot find the file specified. (2) 'SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Epic Games\EpicGamesLauncher'

not found

(BTW I don't have "Epic Games" anywhere in my registry.) (Windows 10 Home 1909)

The part about the epic launcher is irrelevant, please ignore it.

The command is case sensitive, so it has to be "persistent.nexus.userInfo" with an upper case I in userInfo, sorry I didn't point that out specifically. It's probably easiest if you just copy&paste that line.

Another thing I forgot to mention: If you are using Vortex in shared mode? (Settings->Vortex->Multi-User Mode)

that second command needs to be changed to

Vortex --shared --del persistent.nexus.userInfo

If you _still_ get "not found" that would mean you are actually correctly logged out, I don't see why you'd have this problem then.

Tannin42: Thanks so much!

here is the full activity:

C:\Windows\system32>cd C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex

C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex>Vortex --del persistent.nexus.userInfo

C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex>

info: Epic games launcher not found error=The system cannot find the file specified. (2) 'SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Epic Games\EpicGamesLauncher'

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.email

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.isPremium

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.isSupporter

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.name

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.profileUrl

removing persistent.nexus.userInfo.userId

C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex>

Then when I opened Vortex, Dashboard said "Register or Log In...." and when I clicked the "Log In or Register" button, the page said: "Vortex would like to access your Nexus Mods account, if you are happy with this, click the "Authorise" button below" and when I clicked it, the page said "You have successfully logged into Vortex! You can now close this page and return to Vortex"

When I returned, I was properly logged in!!

I do have one more question if you don't mind

It still displays the old photo. Since I was successfully logged in, I ass-u-me that the photo is cached somewhere on my computer. Would you know where it is stored so i could delete it and go through the procedure again so it would pick up my new photo when I logged back in?
