Vortex deletes mod staging folder

So Vortex is complaining that it cant find my Mods staging folder because it "moved" when it never did. So I've tried to recreate the same folder. Then set the path with vortex, and when i hit apply, it says I need to reinitialize. And when I initialize it says "Vortex tried to access ______ but it doesn't exist" and when I go back and check for the folder I JUST made, its gone. What's going on?? I've been trying to set the mod staging folder for hours and Vortex keeps failing. Even letting it suggest a folder doesn't work. I'm starting to hate Vortex.

By any chance, did you see the sticky post at the top of the forums? The one cunningly titled "Do not put mods/downloads into your Vortex install directory! "?

I'll bet that's your issue.

i ran into the same issue, and the folder wasn't even on the same physical drive as the vortex install directory...yet it still couldn't get the folder and deleted the one i created.

where did you create your folder that vortex could reach it? was it in your vortex install directory?

on a different drive, and it accepted the folder once i reduced it to 2 subfolders (then i realised i had a modfolder on the drive where the game is anyway, and there it accepted more subfolders, its been a loooong time since i played skyrim...)

Sounds like you put it in the SAME place as you put the Download folder, according to the other thread you started

i don't see how vortex could delete your drive if you put it on a different drive from the vortex install folder. its a mod manager, it doesn't simply decide to delete folders on a whim. i rather think you've scapegoated vortex here because you set everything up incorrectly. its not vortex's fault you did that, it would be like blaming your entire pc because you didn't set up the directory structure correctly.
