Iv000
Jackson swears that the movie won't make you sick in 48FPS.And I heard and read reviews of it first seeming too fast (But it 'normalizes' after a few minutes), that it looks too clear and removes immersion in some parts, and in other parts that it looks gorgeous. Someone said that you could see McKellen's contact lenses if you watched good enough.
JimboUK
The OP has my sympathy, 3D gives me a headache and makes me feel sick as well. That said most of the garbage coming out of Hollywood these days make me sick, 3D or not. :-) The 24fps standard is because in the early days of movies, film was very expensive - so they used the lowest frame rate that gave acceptable viewing results to save on film. As I live in a rural area I will probably see The Hobbit in the old 24fps format as my local theaters are not equipped for 48fps yet. :( 24fps is fine for live action, each frame will have a slight natural blur that smooths it out, the problem is all this CGI, each frame is a static image and so like video games needs a higher frame rate to make it look smooth. Ironman5000
I have only ever walked out on one film because I felt sick - Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn.
