AaronS
Why is Piper needed to find the institute?I usually have a conversation with Nick and Piper about how to find the institute, and then boom I go about the main quest without her. It's not like she has to come along to help or anything. She doesn't really add anything to the quest except to be all up in your business. HeyYou
I have never taken her with me to find the institute.... I don't do companions.
Zorkaz
She helps you find your way around Diamond City. Also she has something to do with the memory den I think. But Piper relates to the Main Quest, as Nick Valentine does to the Far Harbor questline. It's an enhancement but not necessary
taryl80
Piper is a journalist + a activist for well... human rights I guess. It makes sense for her, that she really want to know where the institute hides. There is no other npc's in the game where it makes more sense for them to find the institute as for her, besides the brotherhood of steel of course. Zorkaz
Well it makes sense for Deacon, Nick (Though he won't find the truth) and Piper. They all have got the skills to do so.
AaronS
You can take Piper or Nick to the memory den. If you don't take piper, she doesn't show up at the memory den. There for she is not needed, and she's just sticking her nose in your business.
taryl80
Who had thought, that a journalist is intersted in the sole survivor and what he is doing? Totally surprising . I mean, its not like that the sole survivor is the biggest news out there in the wastes and also what he does . Sorry for being a bit funny here, but she just does what makes sense for her job and her character. I am honestly surprised -over and over again- that not more npcs recognize the value of the player character in the Bethesda games. After all, we have there always the biggest, or at least a huge impact in the story and often also in the life of others. If we think about it,- the Sole Survivor and the Dragonborn must be something like the heroes of a decade. More as any other guy and not to compare with todays stars like movie stars, rock stars and for some politicans. They are all small food compared to what we become in the gameworlds of Bethesda. Its just natural that characters like journalists like to know a bit of our ingame character^^. Edited April 17, 2020 by taryl80
Zorkaz
Especially since the character is able to single-handedly wipe out whole raider camps ;)
