Why am I being asked to pay for premium every time I download a mod?

I've used nexus mods for a long, long time now and I even payed for a month of premium a while back when I was using it heavily. So why am I being bothered with what are essentially self-advertisements for buying premium again? I had it once, it was okay, I'm fine with your "slow download" speed. Seems pretty scummy to me.

It's because Nexus has around 18 million users, but only around 186,000 people actually pay for premium and the rest use the site for free.

So, because of that, people who don't pay have to see the slow download option every time they download now.

It has helped increase the number of premium users, but still falls short.

Bandwidth isn't free.

 

Also, this has nothing to do with Vortex.
