wasder
How may Persians do you want? And on the subject of parents, they may be some of the greatest people to you, but other than you and any siblings of yours, they haven't contributed something amazing to humankind. Example: When Einstein came along he re-wrote loads of physics and caused a storm.I've been thinking, how about Bill Gates? I mean he gave the world microsoft, and frankly, I couldn't get through school without it. Many many people arein his debt.

LHammonds
King Leonidas of Sparta?! WTF! Idiot went and got massacred at Thermopylae. Hardly warrants himself as one of the greatest people of all time. Better rulersWell, I guess this needs some splainin then. If you do not care for Democracy, then I suppose you would not care for this person either. You see, it was the Greeks that founded the idea of Democracy and they were in their infancy developing this idea. Had the Persians been successful and razed their libraries to the ground and taken over, we would likely all still be in the dark ages as if nothing had ever improved. Because Leonidas was able to hold them off, that gave the Spartans and Greeks the time necessary to retreat and mount a defense to repeal the Persians. The stand also fueled the fire of their resolve to beat back the Persians.

This Library was Burnt down by Alexander, all lost. so if greeks were the founders of democracy why did they Burn down the Great Library? and if they were democratic Societies why did they enslave the poor? as we know there was no slavery in persia according to "Richard Frye" (I might have misspelled). Cyrus the Great was Called the founder of World peace and Democracy, and he Ordered to make the Charter of nation and Human Rights you can find info Here. maybe if there never was an Alexander now we had a much more peaceful World. But then again I also admire spartans, for their culture. I also Like greeks, Because There are a lot of things in common between the iranian and greek culture. LHammonds
Let's not turn this into a historical debate, this is just a simple list of who we each think are the greatest people (for whatever reason we want...which was not specified but we all assume "in regards to world development") The "idea" of democracy was in its infancy as I have stated. America (Land of the Free) came into existance and still used slaves but later changed that (which is why Abraham Lincoln is on that list too). I did not say the Persians were a mindless horde or anything like it. The Greeks refused to bow down and Persia came knocking on their door on 480 B.C. to correct it and bring "peace" to their lands too. ;) LHammonds
