TDBFluff
Started modding a fresh install of Skyrim SE yesterday. I stopped halfway through to go to sleep, and when I came back and opened Vortex, I saw that it had a new update. I updated it, and it told me my Skyrim SE mod staging folder needed to "finish moving", or something along those lines. I clicked fix, thinking nothing of it. I had changed my mod staging folder location yesterday to be in line with my Oblivion installation. However, when I reopened Vortex, I got errors saying that my Skyrim SE mod staging folder was missing, and true enough, when I went to the location where the mod staging folder should be, it was gone. Searching the drive for the folder turned up nothing, so I can only assume trying to "fix" the mod staging folder movement just ended up deleting it instead. Or maybe something weird happened with windows permissions and the folder became invisible, idk. I would appreciate any assistance on how to repair this, else i'll have to start over again. HadToRegister
What was the path to your original Mod Staging FOlder? What did you change your mod staging folder path to?I've seen people make a path like thisD:\Vortex\Mods\Fallout 4\Skyrim SEAnd then when they remove something in Fallout 4 the Skyrim directory goes missing. The proper setup should be something likeD:\Mods\SkyrimseD:\Mods\Fallout4Vortex will automatically create the Game folder for you, so even D:\Mods\ is ok, because then Vortex will add the SKyrimse or Fallout4 etc

(D:\Games\Vortex Mods\Oblivion)It should be noted that my vortex mod download folders are in D:\Games\Vortex, and that my installation for Vortex itself is elsewhere. HadToRegister
Check C:\users\<YOUR NAME>\appdata\roaming\vortex and see if Vortex moved it thereAlso, click on the3 three vertical dots next to your avatar in Vortex and pick "Diagnostic Files, then the most recent date on the next screen, then uncheck INFO and see if there are any message listed under WARNING and ERROR
TDBFluff
I checked the location you suggested and did not find the mod staging folder, checking the size of the vortex folder in properties also indicated a size too small to contain the mod staging folder. I couldn't go to the diagnostics due to the mod staging folder missing error, and in trying to get past it, I clicked reinitialize. It most likely was a bad choice, since it removed all the deployed mods in my Skyrim SE folder. Which begs the question: as I understand it, the files in my Skyrim SE folder were hardlinks installed by Vortex, so why were they still there when the mod staging folder vanished? Regardless, I checked diagnostics and only found mod directory not found errors for the mods I installed.

If so click it and see what it says, and/or take a screenshot of it

TDBFluff
UPDATE: While I would like to know what caused the problem and whether or not there's some lost-in-limbo mod staging folder on my computer, setting up a new one with mods already downloaded was remarkably easy and fast. Thank you for trying to help regardless.
