Knight Major Saraa Maishan wondered if the interior, of her powerarmor, could get any hotter and stickier than it was. There were some Seekatechies close bye but they were very busy repairing powerarma and other scihitech. Oversized enemy bullets exploded into the earth banks at top-front of the trench causing some dirt to trickle down into it. A mutiroach fled past her but, sensing she was no threat to it, was clearly more concerned about the battle in general.

 

The BDUs (big dumb uglies) were using slippipeguns made from special type piping invented 34 years before Doomsday took place. That was almost exactly 100 years after Warday that had ended WW3 (World War Three) just as Doomsday had ended WW4 (World War Four). Slippiping was very enduring, against wear, and projectiles were not reduced in speed as they shot along a slippipegun barrel. The odd weapons also used other techtricks designed by the same eccentric supergenius who had refused to believe that any other than 'good' people would use his remarkable survival designs.

 

Half, of a Predoomsday plastic poster of overdone propaganda quality, showed United States of NorthAm (North America); it had a map proudly showing how it ruled all of NorthAm including Canada and Mexico. The original USA ended with Warday but in the Postwarday times the USNA had arisen to replace it, eagerly conquering Canada, and Mexico, in the process. Then it, in turn, had fallen when Doomsday took place or so went the general stories.

 

NewWashington's South GrandMall was trench warfare raging but the trenches were much older than the current conflict; it was a savage fight between the SeekaChapterDC and HulkMarshal Smashbang's hulktant army from SBC1232. On the side of the Seekars were local volunteers including experienced, disciplined, fighters. Serving the hulktants were zytants, animatants and some pyskertants; the last with their narrow ranged, but dangerous, psychic based psyker powers.

 

Knight Captain Venger cursed through the 2way radionet of the powerarmor suits. "We all need to get out of the hot, bright, sun or at least a few of us are going to get sick."

 

Then it happened, all of a sudden, taking all by surprise. The flash of light filled the area, radiating out from Saraa herself, and then the two were waking up in improved powerarmor with just as enhanced other tech. They felt better of mind-body-spirit, the last being that which could not really be explained in reference to mind or body. A camouflaged roof, heavily armoured, and able to crumple to divert kinetic force, lay overhead providing shade. The irony was that it was no longer needed due to the improved powerarmor.

 

Venger smiled. "Inbuilt tubes supplying fresh water, coffee and foodpaste."

 

Saraa raised one powered hand, moving her large battlerifle to do so. "Everything has gone silent but peacefully so, not tensely so."

 

At moment the mutiroach returned but now it was covered with flexible armour platelets above and a smooth plate on its belly. It was Saraa who, somehow, knew this to be. It came up to her and huddled down next to her taking it for granted that she would do it no harm. Then it began to suck on its own inbuilt tube of foodpaste.

 

Venger showed his amazement in his voice. "I suppose we could call it an armorroach!"

 

Saraa stroked the creature's back. "It is a 'she' and she is pregnant."

Celestibaby, as a Celestigod Baby, was awakening, sleepy still, but aware anyway as her mind reached out carefully explore the area. Thus she picked up the presence of the Seekars, off the mutageltants, of mutiradtants and other entities. She knew at once, easily, that some subtle factor linked her with all of the lifeforms there, some influence that had come from herself in the past but as yet she could define its true nature. Then there were the others...

Tiredness suddenly overcame the StarMajor and soon she was sleeping curled up against Heroroachi the armorroach. Five other, new type, armorroaches joined them all being pregnant females; it was to turn out that, before the 'flash' that two had been males. The area had been influenced by the flash including both sides; this was discovered by realising that it spread out as a circular effect and by measuring just the part of it that had covered the area of the SeekaAlliance.

 

When Saraa woke up, about three days later, there were 15 armorroaches close to her and a message, from the SeekaCitadel, was ready for her to read. It asked her to confirm the details, of the strange incident. It informed her that a special unit, known as the Maishanforce, was being created to utilise the new 'gifts' but also to study them along with trying to find out how the Supermutant Pact had been influenced by the flash.

 

Beneath the trenches, in that immediate area, was found a large bunkercomplex thanks to fixing up changes caused by the flash; that is repairs done to the local area of the trench network. The new Maishanforce was already turning the bunkercomplex into their base of operations. A further surprise was to be the condition of the bunkercomplex and its contents; the nature, of the contents, was to turn out to be yet another surprise.

 

Saraa made her way down to the MFB (Maishanforce Base) by following a series of tunnels, and passing through chambers, in a purposeful indirect route to her goal. With her went others who were soon being called Maishanforcers of different kinds be they Forcetroopers, Forcetechies, Forcemanders (high commanders) and others.

 

They passed through brand new looking spaces with 'good as new' junk, semijunk and even more useful items. Formerly rusted weapons were usable but the same was true for other equipment. There was a big chamber full of tires, wheels, cabins and other parts of vehicles. There were some odd collections such as a great stack, of toilet paper, in one room and another large stack, being of condensed milk + coffee, in another. None could quite work out why one chamber was largely full of mops, buckets, brooms, 3Dcomicbooks, pencils, pencil sharpeners, toys, party balloons and much else that apparently seemed to be a very odd mixture.

 

By the time Saraa got to the large, well equipped and otherwise resourced, MFB, she was being followed by 28 adoring armorroaches and nine besotted armormolerats; the latter were also all female and pregnant. Venger had very mixed feeling about becoming a pregnant woman. Saraa was amused, at 'her' expense, until she realised that she was also pregnant. It was good news that only a very few Seekabrothers, and Seekasisters, had become pregnant as women or had become pregnant women as former men.

 

Field doctors did thorough medical checks on the 'effected ones'. So far that was the pregnant preexisting women being Saraa, Diana, Dalina, Jenkins and Sables. The preexisting men become pregnant women, were Venger, Gibs, Kodios, Cavendish, Jameson and Renaldo. A whole lot of pregnant women, all new to the experience of being pregnant and over half being new to the experience of being women, was a most interesting situation and bemusing to the medical people there.

 

The trench warfare had gone quiet only in that area as reports continued to come in of fighting still taking place to both sides of the Maishanforce positions. The combat was slowed down as it had become a stalemate with neither side making any advances and neither being able to waste resources by needless fighting, especially vital ones.

NewWashington hugged the East Coast of the former USNA and the former, before that, USA. OldWashingtonDC was toxic now with the results of a controversial attempt to cleanse it of high radiation and heavy toxins. There was a barrier, still intact, around that other Washington and along the east coast a great Stormbarrier so that between them was NewWashington. Where the Potomac River reached the edges, of OldWashington, it was very heavily treated before flowing onwards to the coast.

HulkMarshal Smashbang had thought he had dealt with so many strange things that nothing would surprise him any more. Now, looking at a row of eight former neuter hulktants, and one formerly sexless zyclops of a zytant, he realised that it had been a false assumption; he vowed never to be so foolish again. They were all female, pregnant, enhanced but understandably confused.

 

Good news was that they were smarter, tougher, faster, more enduring and their self healing was improved. Along with that they all had flexible armoured skin.

 

Shasdang, the smarttant scientist, scowled. "Kill and dissect is the only logical way."

 

Smashbang grinned. "Then I will have you killed, and dissected, at once."

 

Shasdang sighed. "You know what I meant! I take it that logic will not win out again."

 

Smashbang responded coldly. "The hulktants, of our superbunker, have here a new chance to win the ongoing attempt to conquer the GrandMall for those who have contracted us to do so. The offspring, I feel, will be very special to us. I have sent a message to QIQI11 but no response will probably come for some days as is always the way. One day I would like to find out who-what they are who are paying so generously for our services."

 

The now pregnant, female, Oopsagain, spoke out. "Sir, may I have a word especially now that my vocabulary is extended to more than eight words?"

 

Smashbang nodded. "Speak but I do hope, for your sake, that it is important."

 

Oopsagain: "We do not need to be killed and dissected as we will serve you loyally and well."

 

The HulkMarshal grinsmiled. "Thank you, Oopsagain, but I had already decided no such bad things would happen to my new, special, pregnant female mutagentants. Your offspring will serve us all well as we make gains by driving back the arrogant Seekas and their puny allies."

 

The new 'specials' were obviously very happy from hearing his words. He surprised himself by the strength of his feeling in protecting them; was he getting soft? Shasdang was obviously unhappy and Smashbang decided he might have to kill the increasingly upstart fool. He carefully denied to himself that this had anything to do with protecting the 'specials'.

The Celestibaby was able to sense that the mutageltants, of hulktants and other types, were very worth ‘saving’ just as were the Seekaclones and others including nonclone humans of that world. In her sleepiness she felt inclined to help and the ‘flashes’ occurred but she was young, tired, and sometimes the results were unintended and even not so positive in the long term.

Saraa's pregnancy did not stop her from being in command of the new Maishanforcers. She was one of six identical quintuplet sisters with the others being captains of their own types of new units along with a small number of second cousins. Sarae commanded the Forcescouts, Sarai the Forcetroopers, Saran the Forcelogicers, Saray the Forcerangers, Sarau the Forcemechers, Sarao the Forceflyers, Shyla more Forcetroopers and Shylo even more Forcetroopers. All were coming to the MTF Base along with some new, yet to be created, sections to be commanded by others to be chosen.

 

Saraa studied the desktop computer on the old, good quality, wooden desk before her. Both had been found in the bunkercomplex along with most items on, and in, the desk. According to reports HulkMarshal Smashbang had pulled back further but she had little trust in such information.

 

The Seekaagents were too arrogantly convinced that SeekaOrderdom technologies, especially their spying hihitech, meant they could mostly ignore other sources of information. So they used flying dronebots, sneaky wormbots, floating eyebots and remote, hidden, sensors along with other such devices. They were always trying to upgrade their spytech, to hack into Prewarday satellites and pressuring other SeekaOrditers to endanger themselves to gain more data. They did not seem to like to put themselves into danger. Saraa's father, PrimeElder Rowyn Maishan, was starting to get very angry with them and he was far from being the only one to do so.

 

Seekascouts had indicated that the HulkMarshal could be up to something devious but what? They had picked up hints that the brilliant commander had found a large bunkercomplex just as Saraa had done; she doubted it was just coincidence and that both discoveries were firmly linked to the light that had seemed to radiate out from herself.

 

Seekasappers had run instruments over the 'flash zone' only to find a few, feint, traces of unusual energy patterns. They had been joined by Seekaboffins, of field scientists, who had discovered little more with their specialist tech . The Seekaboffins had carefully examined the armorroaches and armormolerats, controlling them with the gifting of snacks. Saraa had made it very clear that none of the creatures were to be harmed.

 

Saraa became convinced that Smashbang was pulling back only enough to make his new base the center of his operations. This fit what others told her except for information coming from the Seekaagents, from the safety of the SeekaCitadel.

 

The Major decided that she needed more information which meant communicating with the sometimes annoying Seekaarchivers and trying to get them to release some of their precious secret files.

What Celestibaby did not realise was that her influence, outside of the flashes, had been, more subtly, influencing the area and its lifeforms in a most profound manner. What she did know was there was ‘something’ in the Trenchzone that was attracting to it all sorts of entities from onworld, inworld, offworld, outworld and sideworld. Her main response was to make herself, and hers, more hidden and protected in her special realm but in that she had exotic assistance.

MaishanTechforce is now the MaishanTaskforce so as to better disguise its purpose.

 

Mutamutants have been changed, by name, to mutageltants as created primarily by mutagel but with other additives to lead to variations being castes and subcastes.

 

Hulktants are big, powerful, hard to damage mutageltants but they all tend to be. Known subcastes, from smallest-common to biggest-rarest, are: bighulks, masshulks, superhulks and megahulks.

 

Mantants are most human like though still distinctively not; they are like hulkmant human hybrids. They have loose variations and only a few known offshoot demicastes. They have basic, narrow focused, psyker abilities.

 

Pyskertants are psyker mantants with much more powerful psyker abilities than typical mantants but have odd weaknesses. They are a mantant offshoot.

 

Zytants have the known subcastes of zyclops, zyclawers, zyspitters and zyspiners.

The trench warfare had become little more than patrols skirmishing with each other and ambushes by zytants against Seekas. The newly renamed Forcescouts as commanded by Captain Sarae moved very carefully to avoid running into nasty traps set by zytants, such as zyclops, zyclawers, zyspitters and zyspiners.

 

Zyclops had nasty, limited, psyker attacks shooting pulses of dazing energy from their single eyes as they tried to strike the eyes of their targets; the powerarmorsuits dealt with that easy enough but one had to be sure of protecting the eyes. Zyspitters spat nasty acidgunk of sticky burning nature. Zyspiners shot of spine projectiles or spinejectiles. Zyclawers attacked with claws, fangs and spiketails that all other zytants had but zyclawers were bigger, stronger, and more dangerous with such intrinsic melee weapons. There had been dark whispers of other kinds of zytants existing but the SeekaOrderdom had encountered no solid proof, of their existence, let alone had encountered any.

 

It was oddly quiet except for the occasional, muffled, sounds of battle. Hulktants were sporadically bombarding the Seeka areas with lots of crude mortars and even some makeshift catapults hurling pulterbombs. Miltiaguards, being mostly irregulars with a core of professional regulars, of the locals were excellent at guerilla warfare. They had also fought mutamutants for over 300 years ever since they had come out of the ground to give mutahumans grief.

 

The Seekas had provided locals with resources and not just such as body-armour and weapons because they needed the mutahumans as much as the locals needed them. They kept their origins a secret but that was easy enough as their knowledge of such was missing from their minds.

 

Sarae remembered the place that the original SeekaExpeditionaries had grown up in where they were only educated in a special, controlled, fashion. They were Seekas sent to seek out secrets but not to give them away. The Seeka Homebase was very deep underground but where was the original homeland and what was it?

 

They made their way through a slippery, muddy, area in their recon powerarmorsuits. Instead of bigger, more powerful, battlerifles they carried smaller battlecarbines as standard. Though they were classed as combat reconners, their main task was to make important discoveries and then retreat if they were able to do so.

 

Two hulking houndtants, with very thick leathery skin, leapt into the ditch but then fled away from the Forcescouts, blood flowing from two wounds on one of them. Then they abruptly halted, turned and came submissively over to Sarae where she was soon fixing one of them up.

 

When she learned what had attacked them she was most surprised. She spoke to her comrades. "A whole lot of armorroaches jumped them and drove them off. I suppose it was revenge, for all the mutiroaches eaten by houndtats, but these big doggies are not very happy about it. They want to serve us... because of my influence on them which has grown stronger since the 'flash' incident but I do not know how, at least not for sure. I do not think that the armorroaches were out to do more than take a few bites out of the canines."

 

It was far from the first time that Sarae had influenced animals but the first time it was houndtats. Her comrades soon got used to their new, now very loyal, company. Sarae did not speak openly of her feeling that the houndtats were really frightened of far more than mutated, flash transformed, cockroaches.

Seekaclones was a term not yet fully used by them but it would come to be so as they became more accepting of their true nature; except that nature was changing as they began to evolve into a secondary group mind linked set of still independent individuals. That independence would prove to be at different levels with most being of most independence, from the group mentality, and fewest being most dependent. But what of others such as the mutageltants? What was happening to them? The changes were neither negative, or wholly positive, in nature but were rather neutral positive in results.

The new Hulkbase was adjusted to the likes of mutamutants be they hulktants, houndtats, zytants or even other types that were not there. There were even lots of oversized rolls of toilet paper, the access of which made hulktants happier.

 

The HulkMarshal moved into his command section and sat back in his hulktant designed for chair. The computer 3Dscreen was adjusted for him as was the oversized keyboard with its extra large keys. Now he could touch type and was soon doing so, causing hulktants to stare in amazement at his fast moving fingers. This would have become annoying but the guards soon got bored and were 'half snoozing' as most hulktants put it.

 

The 'pregnant specials' were in quarters next to his so that he could better protect them. The zyclops was going faster in her pregnancy which was interesting. Smashbang went through databanks, that came with the new base, that provided information on the biology of reproduction. He had been created as a neuter hulktant and yet in the past his demanding sense of curiosity had had him study even such subjects. Often he wondered why he was so driven.

 

It was too bad he did not trust most of the smart, limited psyker, mantants for he was not only immune to their attempts to probe his mind but had managed to pick up glimpses of their thoughts-feelings. They were convinced of their superiority to other species of mutamutants or at least most of them were. Kaskin was his very loyal mantant assistant even then on his way back from SBC1232 with reinforcements along with more E&S (equipment and supplies) being mostly supplies.

 

It was at that moment that Smashbang gained an urgent telempathic message from the talented psyker Kaskin. *Message must be brief because of enemy psykers in area serving unidentified faction. Light flash has struck convoy with very interesting results. Convoy has been forced to take a secondary, more hidden, route to where you are. Do you really have pregnant, female, mutamutants and a new base? Considering what the convoy has gone through, I fully believe so. Enemy faction may attempt to infiltrate your force and even your new base. I do not know what they want.*

 

Then the message was gone and Smashbang was bemused for instead of being neuter, as he has always been, Kaskin had come across as being female linked to another, budding, life as in being pregnant. Just what was going on?

The gender changes, and linked pregnancies, came from subconscious urges, needs, of she who was celestial in nature. That is to create additional allies and even supporters and protectors, perhaps even followers. As a powerful child entity, the Celestibaby was not yet her way to think over much about such matters or many others besides them.

Yet more changes with 'Scitech' replaced by 'Seeka' and there being now the Maishanforce with various types of units starting with 'Force'. 'Seekar' is now the term used for any member of the SeekaOrder and the same term is used with different SeekaOrder types.
