Hickory
Why exactly can't I decide to offer payment to another modder, even if it's going to remain non-profit? Offering payment is simply providing guaranteed profit. It's about soliciting, really. A donation button is in that grey area -- I don't like it, personally -- but it's not considered soliciting. Thandal
Dark0ne is in a position to be more generous (with respect to consequences) than the rest of us. If we carry the big stick, (and announce that we're carrying it) we seldom have to actually swing it.
Thandal
Hmmm, I sense the Banhammer heading swiftly towards the Mod requests forum..... :psyduck: Waaaaaaaaay too many items in those topics, and we don't go looking for people to ban (or even admonish). If you find a post that violates the ToS, Report it. :armscrossed:
Mookeylama
I must admit, I've been wondering this for a long time. Why exactly can't I decide to offer payment to another modder, even if it's going to remain non-profit? I'm have little knowledge of the laws regarding this stuff, but I don't see how it would come under Bethesda's jurisdiction to decided what I do and don't spend my money on, especially if it's guaranteed to remain non-profit and doesn't break copyright laws. Or is it just to simply avoid any potential grey-area the Nexus doesn't want to risk entering?yeah, i would hope things like that would be freely distributed. what i was asking for, i would've hoped that it would be made available for all. i can't be the only one that thinks the upside down hammers are goofy. i recently saw The Hobbit and axes were carried head up, so at least Jackson's getting it right. A donation button is in that grey area -- I don't like it, personally -- but it's not considered soliciting. i think allowing the donations is one of the best decisions made here. it blows my mind how much work, effort and time has to go into a lot of these mods. donations provide incentive.Dark0ne is in a position to be more generous (with respect to consequences) than the rest of us. If we carry the big stick, (and announce that we're carrying it) we seldom have to actually swing it. :tongue:LOL^ and i'm thankful that you folks are generous in that regard! Lanceor
Thanks for clarifying the situation with offering payments. Given the number of posts on that subject and that it's not explicitly stated in the rules, I would have thought it was acceptable. The "donations should only ever be offered as a way of thanking other users" bit kinda implies offering payments is not allowed, but someone could also argue "I'm thanking in advance". Can I make a small suggestion? Perhaps an extra line in the rules explicitly stating "no offers to pay" so that there's no confusion. FInally Mookeylama - sorry for getting your gender wrong. If a bunch of guys have been trying to hit on you, you now know why. ;)
