chuckingapples
okay so i finally found two possible problems in the case of dragon age it looks like ea moved the fliping .exe and replaced the usal one with some garbage as for the other one it might of been a mod dependency issue i have to restart my computer so hopefully i can find my way back. shouldnt matter vortex should still see the game in the case of dragon age which is odd but i guess we will find out soon enough. HadToRegister
and this is why im going nuts ive deleted and remade the vortex mod folder a dozen times I figured it would function like that so I didn't bother trying to put it into the game folder. it literally refuses to set the staging area to f:\\ is there a way to revert to a older version so I can try to see if it will work that way? First of all, stop making the folder F:\\, just use ONE \, vortex just shows it that way. So, F:\ NOT F:\\ So you've tried this. Made an Empty Folder with Windows explorer called something like F:\Vortex Mods\ Then opened Vortex, went to the SETTINGS Tab, then MODS tab, then browsed to the folder and picked F:\Vortex\Mods\ and then hit SELECT, then hit APPLY? Yea, people keep doing things like that, than blaming Vortex. You should not be copying and pasting mods from folder to folder OUTSIDE of Vortex, because there's no way for Vortex to know that.It keeps a record of the paths where each mod is downloaded, and staged, and when those things are moved OUTSIDE of Vortex, Vortex continues to look at it's database, and still expects to find the mods at the same path it last found them People are also moving their Mod Staging Folders and Downloads folder using Windows Explorer instead of Vortex, then expecting Vortex to somehow know that the folders were manually moved. KirkH420
I tried reinstalling Vortex, that didn't work for me. I tried "Stop Managing" game button, this just deletes all your installed mods (not downloads), it wont reset the deployment directory. What did work for me was to go into Votex's "Games" menu and locate MCC's profile. Then I clicked the ellipsis and chose "Manually Set Location". I then pointed Vortex to the game instance which I want vortex to manage. Quit Vortex. Next I went to where my games are installed (C:\Games) and I created a new folder name "AAAA" (name is unimportant). Next I dragged the instance of the game which I do NOT want Vortex to manage into the directory location C:\Games\AAAA. Now Vortex cannot know where this game has been moved to. When I re-launched Vortex, everything was already set to the correct game folder. At this point you can move your other game copy out of the AAAA folder and put it back wherever it's belongs. Hope this helps somebody. Edited December 3 by KirkH420
