FO4 won't recognize mods via Vortex

I didn't copy the C drive. I reinstalled everything fresh onto it when I got the new laptop. Including Steam, FO4, and Vortex. Then I re-downloaded each mod and reinstalled them using Vortex. Everything was installed fresh. When that didn't work, I bought a second hard drive, since that's how my computers in the past were set up, when everything worked. My intention was to duplicate the setup that was on my previous laptops, when i didn't have this problem. So I uninstalled everything from the C drive, so there would be nothing duplicated, and reinstalled it all fresh again onto the new D drive. This is how my desktop is set up and how my previous laptops were set up. But, this time, it's just not working.

I'm 99% sure that all is working correctly again. I won't go 100% until I've played on both computers for a day or two.

Having gotten very frustrated, I finally reset my new laptop, reinstalling Windows 10, etc. When it came time to install Vortex, the only thing I did differently, which seems to have fixed my problems, was I used the recommended installer that selects the proper path(s). I know for a fact that the first several times I used the second installer that allows the user to select the path(s). I know I did this the second time because I wanted to make sure it installed on the D drive. So, my mistake, it appears, is that I thought I knew better than Vortex where to install the thing. When I let it do it's thing automatically, everything appears to be working fine.

I still don't know what path(s) I had incorrect originally. But using the recommended installer was the fix.

Again, thanks so much for the help!!

OK, armed with that new information, it's possible that you had two Vortexes installed at the same time, and since they'd share the appdata folder, they were probably fighting about the load order and which plugins were enabled/disabled etc.

Other people have done that.

They've download the Custom Installer, then when they go to reinstall Vortex they accidentally download the installer that puts vortex in C, then they end up with two version that fight.

I personally have Vortex installed on my D drive.
