mikegray Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) My daughter's game is getting massive save game bloating, and I'm trying to find out what's wrong. When I turn on logging I get gigantic files pretty much stuffed with various references to BYOHHouseTrophyBaseScript. After trying all the fix tricks I know (like going off the grid and waiting a month, etc.) I'm pretty resigned to re-starting her character for her. But I'd still like to what the heck was going on there! I don't think this is referring to a mod; my guess is that it's something in one of the DLCs, most likely Hearthfire. (I have unofficial patches for Skyrim itself and both DLCs, btw.) Edited January 19, 2013 by mikegray
Cait833 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) Actually, I think it is a mod - 'Build your own House' (BYOH). Have you ever installed it? Edited January 19, 2013 by Cait833
IsharaMeradin Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 It is a Hearthfire script. That house mod Build your own House used the same prefix BYOH as Bethesda did with Hearthfire. Any relation between the two beyond that, I have no clue. At any rate, what you are most likely seeing are various debug.trace statments showing up in your papyrus log. Many of the DLC scripts did not have their trace log statements commented out. You can if it is too problematic open up the PSC file and place a semi-colon ";" in front of any "debug.trace" line. Save it and compile it with the Creation Kit. That will remove the annoying debug.trace lines from your log. Of course you'd have to repeat with every reinstall or verification of the game. The unofficial patches commented out many debug.trace lines already, but they could have missed a few too. There are a lot of scripts after all. Then again you could have some other issue and posting the log or portions thereof could be of some use. However, I should state that unless it says "Warning" or "Error" it most likely is just a spamming of debug.trace lines. I highly doubt that this particular script is in any way related to causing "bloat" in the saves. Bloat and instability are caused by instalilng and uninstalling mods while trying to play the same character. Best course of action is to pre-define a list of mods to use and use only those mods thru the course of that character's playthrough.
mikegray Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Hi guys! Thanks so much for your input. As a matter of fact, I do have the Build Your Own House mod downloaded, but I'm (almost) completely sure it was never activated in Mod Organizer in my daughter's game. (My son had it in one of his games.) It's a pity about my daughter's game. I had tried to put together a fairly simply mod setup for her, but something must have got messed up very early on. She kept on getting bloating, which she'd notice because the More Hotkeys Please mod would slow to a crawl. I'd go back a few saves and think I had everything good, then the bloating would start all over again ... (BTW, I've noticed that the More Hotykeys Please mod has an excellent "mine canary" effect. It seems to be very sensitive to the circumstances that cause bloating. If it stops responding, it's time to stop and check the logs immediately.) Anyway, she was only level 7. I re-built her character in Helgen (even got her High Elf a little prettier this time round!), took the character through the tutorial, then added in a set of up-to-date mods. The logs are staying reasonably small and save size is fine, so we'll call it a day.
turtleinabox Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Hey I'm getting the same message, I'm using skyrim mod organizer and I keep crashing when I try to go to certain areas. Right now it's windhelm, and there was an area near an assassin contract I was doing. When I look at the 'conflicts' in the data tab it says there's a bunch of "unmanaged: dragonborn" and "unmanaged: dawngard". I don't know why I'm crashing cause it runs fine unless i go into these certain areas which is really annoying cause I need to for my quests.
