Arkayjiya
Hello, For a few days, when I'm closing Vortex it suddenly started to ask me as I closed it if I wanted to authorise Vortex to make modifications to the computer. I had said no the first couple of times but I accidentally said yes when closing it yesterday. Today when I booted it back up the UI is completely botched. The app is still working as far as I can tell (which is hard to make sure of because of the UI) but it's unusable. It also stopped asking me about authorisation when I close it. As you can see in the screenshot, even when booting, Vortex has a white backdrop instead of transparency and when booted it's a mess. Is there a way to fix this? And does anyone knows why it might have started to ask for that authorisation? Thanks in advance. Edited July 30, 2020 by Arkayjiya
Solution Pickysaurus Posted July 30, 2020 Solution Share Posted July 30, 2020 The authorisation prompt you're referring to is asking to install the latest update. So it's possible an AV program messed up the install. Try downloading and installing the latest version again and it should fix that.
Tannin42
Oh boy, didn't expect to see that screen again... So I have no clue why Vortex was asking for authorization, Vortex isn't doing anything at shutdown that would require it on a normally configured windows, maybe if you send in a log file we can see what's happening, but first things first.EDIT: Oh right, the vortex update. Yeah, that's probably the reason for the authorization request. The broken ui happens because Vortex can't load the selected theme. To fix that, scroll down a bit until you find the gear icon with "Settings" longside it, click Settings. Then scroll down to the very bottom of the screen where you should find a dropdown named "Theme". Select the default theme. The screen should return to mostly normal but you should still restart Vortex. Please let me know which theme you did have selected. Arkayjiya
I looked at the bottom after launching the software but there were two messages "theme failed to compile" (and when I tried to go in the setting to change the theme it didn't work either, there was a failure message too) and something about the update not being available or installed (sadly I dismissed it accidentally so I don't have the exact message). I'm gonna try downloading and installing the latest version, but before I do, can you tell me if I have to uninstall this version first? And if I do, I won't lose my mods? edit: I launched the installer and I apparently didn't have to uninstall anything. Everything working's great now so next time I get a weird problem, I'll try installing the new version first xD Especially if it's my AV that caused it cause I assume it will happen each time I need to update. Thanks for both of your help! Edited July 30, 2020 by Arkayjiya
