Peregrine
3dsmax 3 and AutoCAD 2000i. Sadly if you want to make something yourself, it isn't going to be cheap... even with student discounts, those programs are over $500 each, $3,000 without. thanateros
ok i think it's time i officially introduce myself. most of you probably have seen me elsewhere on the forums. the project stems from a desire to continue the main storyline after it is done and also give players a chance to explore and delve deeper into ancient Daedric Culture. my part of the mod involves the Shelenka Empire which dwells on a small island (not too small) nation where it's inhabitants directly descend from Daedra and are still born of them. There are four tribes to the nation, each paying homage to a different Daedric Lord. The quests are still in storyboard form and I'm planning on cutting a lot out as not to have the mod die because i tried to take on too much. currently i also have concept art running for 3 new deadric oblivion-class weapons. a longsword, polearm, and shortsword. i also have new daedric armor drawn up and for those of us who you use light and medium armor i'm sure you'll be pleased to know that the new oblivion armors will be light and medium with a new style to fit the tribes that wear them and new textures that differ from the standard daedric texture. my dilemma is that i need to learn how to get the models ingame. it's been a very long time since i've used either ACAD or 3ds but my plan is that while at school to devote at least 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day combing through tuts and learning how to model effectively. my current project is a nice little house mod that will have some 'teaser' stuff in it relating to the Shelenka empire. there is also a small quest to retrieve a key to open his enchanted chest. like i mentioned it will be at least several weeks before i even begin working on the modeling stuff, that is of course my workload at school premits me to do so. by the end of this week, however, the house mod will be done and you all can sink you teeth into some of the lore, culture, and history of the Shelenka empire, more specifically the Kira Qai and Kira Qen tribes who will be the center of the quests. i'm really looking forward to working on this project and hope you are patient enough to realize i DO have a lot of things to accomplish before you'll get out the drool rags to see some screenshots. Once the mod is done i'll post again. If you have any questions about the mod (that i'm willing to answer of course) just post and i'd be happy to point you in the right direction though i believe the books i'm writing for the mod should explain a great deal. Daigoro
Wow, these are some great models, keep up the good work!! btw, i wonder if you could help me, i have a model designed in 3DSmax, and i have the textures for the model from an external source. How do i associate the model with the textures in TESCS, as when i go into the game atm the models have no textures on them.... thanks for any help you can give..... Peregrine
Ok, I had this exact problem when I started. First, make sure your textures are all in the right format (.tga, square dimensions in multiple of 128). Copy all the textures to your morrowind/data files/textures folder, and change the materials to refer to the new textures. As long as all the textures are in the right place, it should work. Daigoro
change the materials to refer to the new textures. As long as all the textures are in the right place, it should work. how exactly do i change the materials to refer to the new textures my model is completely new, and has textures in multiple files, i have copied all the textures to the appropriate file, and have created a new static item in TESCS with the new model as the art file..... how do i now add the textures? please bear in mind im new to creating totally new models so you may have to use NewbSpeak for me to be able to make sense of it... thanks for the help....
