Making race important

I'm not sure whether such thing already was proposed, and I'm certain I can't do this by myself, so I decided to write here, so that someone more capable would possibly take it further.

An ongoing issue in the Elder Scrolls games is that most NPCs ignore the player's race. This was particularly visible in Morrowind, where the Khajiit and the Argonians were treated as equal despite the heavily slavery-marked presentation of these races in-game, and the Dunmer were basically as foreign as anyone else, even though it was impossible to judge by appearance where they were born.

The issue makes its come-back in Skyrim, and here it is most irritating when choosing Altmer. Basically, the Altmer are associated with Thalmor and overtly hated, not only by Nords. One might assume it should influence the NPCs attitude towards the player, but it doesn't. My, even the Altmer NPCs treat Altmer player as someone belonging to "worse races". Normal treatment of Dunmer/Argonian player in Windhelm is also contrasting with how Nord NPCs treat Dunmer/Argonian NPCs in the city. Other bizarrities include Dunmer player asking about who is Azura or Altmer player having no clue on who Thalmor are.

Although such mod would require a big overhaul of most dialogues, I think it would be interesting, for example, to prove that not Altmer are (equally) bad and support that anti-Talos rhetorics. Or to astonish Aranea Ienith with profound knowledge of own faith, if the player is Dunmer. Or put an end to discrimination of Argonians by killing Ulfric as an Argonian character.

An idea worth discussing, I think, or maybe even pushing forward to developers?

So far, my Argonian guy, only had ONE dialogue referring to his race (apart from the guards ''Staying out of trouble Argonian ?'' and ''What is it lizard ?'') is a dockworker at Windhelm docks. He referred to me as ''egg-brother''

And thats it.

In my previous playtrough, this ''problem'' was even more obvious. I was playing as a Khajiit guy. And it's widely known that his people are Not welcome in Skyrim. (the cities in perticular)

No one ever said anything about me just going in the village gates ever.

Aaaand before that I had a female Dunmer. The lady you run into the first time you enter Windhelm asked if I hated ''her people''...

I almost facepalmed there.

So yeah. I second the idea, but I don't have much hope about it actually happening.

Sad, but true.

Oh most defiantly! I hated playing as an Altimer because I chose it partially so that the thalmor might be all nice and whatever. Why not? But they imposed hatred and bigotry against me. AND I was immediately identified as a trespasser in the Embassy! Even with full thalmor junk on! I looked exactly like everyone else!

But maybe a smaller mod, one that just adjusts the default dispositions of people so that if you're a dunmer in windhelm, the nord populace will treat you like a mass murderer, while the dark elf population will treat you like "their favorite drinking buddy!" because while they don't have unique dialogue for races, but they is usually dialogue for if they hate you, or love you! I would like to have that put in. and it shouldn't really effect quests or anything. and that can't be too hard to make happen. can it?

THAT.

Easy Easier to do, makes life harder if you are Dunmer, Argonian or Khajiit, and it'd be simply amazing.

Changing disposition is easy in CK, but I am not sure how to make it change so that it responds your race.

Maybe some keyword and checks like that?.. Don't know for sure.

but it shouldn't be impossible.

If they can make it so that you can have a pet dragon and ride it around as a pet, I think it could be done. But it would involve some custom code you'd have to write yourself. I'd do it myself but I am defiantly the wrong kind of engineer for this!

Some Altmer are very loyal to the empire. So not all Altmer are bad. Some Altmer prefer the company of men over other mer, because men are considered exotic to elves and quite sexually arousing. Plus all elves are perverts. Don't be surprised if Balgraaf isn't doing his Housecarl (Since Dunmer women are complete sluts) or Elenwen raping Ulfric Stormcloak's father when she had him tortured. Elves are bigger sex freaks and devouted followers of Dibella (Aedra of Sexual Perversion) than the races of men or any other race for that matter.

A think a good idea is the prospect of allegences.

Stormcloak = +20 if Nord, -20 if Dunmer, -30 if Argonian, treatment in Windhelm and by Stormcloaks in General, +100 if member of the Stormcloaks, -100 if other faction

Thalmor = +20 if Altmer, + 10 of Bosmer, -10 if any other race not a Khajiit (which is zero), + 100 if member of the Thalmor (if such becomes available).

Morag Tong = +20 if Dunmer, +100 if member, -100 if member of the Dark Brotherhood

Imperial Legion = +20 if Imperial, -10 if Argonian or Khajiit, -20 if Altmer, +100 if member, -100 if of another faction

Alik'r Redguards = +20 if Redguard, -10 if Argonian or Khajiit, -20 if Altmer, +100 if member, -100 if of another faction
