Cruel112
Hello, Could somebody help me? I'm trying to change the malehead.nif1. I made a custom race 2. I did some changes to the malehead.nif in 3DsMax I tried many things in nifskope but the head becomes black or "fly" above the body or has the wrong skintone. I really appriciate it, if someone can help me! :psyduck:
gamefever
You can nly get some of the head changes to work properly via the construction set. I know counter-intuitive, absolutely stupid but that's what I have read around. Basically the CS makes a Head.tri a map if you will of the parts of the head that will show. Sorry I have not actually done this yet myself. all I've done in CS is update FaceGen Textures for Lydia when I turned her into a Lunari elf to force her to use player character exclusive BBP animations....When I changed her race she had messed up face texture CS fixed that. IsharaMeradin
Flying head? Do you mean a neck gap? Does the neck gap go away when you change NPC weight to 0 or 100? If it does, then you TRI file needs to be corrected to work with your changed NIF. How to do that, I have no idea... As far as skin color it may have something to do with how the texture files are applied. It may be that your changes to the NIF also changed the texture template and the game doesn't know how to apply it. That tho is just speculation. Another thought might be that you've set up a custom texture set in the Creation Kit which is known to be buggy and not have all assigned textures properly utilized. To correct that you will need to re-assign the texture settings on the NIF file itself to point to the correct texture locations. Guesses and speculations all, take 'em for what they are worth... FavoredSoul
A friend of mine (at my request) made some modifications to the head mesh and exported it back to the game. There were no issues, no *.egm or *.tri files that needed to be changed/altered/fixed, and chargen worked as normal. Head meshes CAN be edited. You probably disturbed the skin data when you made your modifications in Max, which is probably why its floating instead of resting where it's supposed to be. It might also be floating because you didn't rename the head mesh block in Nifskope after your imported/exported. Sometimes it will take the name of a Bone and cause issues. If the mesh is white (aka, not skin color), it means you're probably using the BSShaderLightingProperty that got exported from Max, insteading of deleting it and replacing it with a copy of the BSShaderLightingProperty from the vanilla head mesh (which you are supposed to do). 3dsMax/Niftools doesn't know squat about Skyrims Shader Flags. If the mesh is black, its probably because vertex colors is set to No. That's the usual cause. If you update your Niftools to the latest version, the issue has been fixed. Cruel112
 Thank you all for your replies! I was really frustated and searched at many forums, but I couldn't find the fix. until favoredsoul post this one: "If the mesh is black, its probably because vertex colors is set to No. That's the usual cause. If you update your Niftools to the latest version, the issue has been fixed." When I ctrl+f4 the actor in the creation kit. The Facegen data file constructed with the creation kit had the vertex colors turned off I manualy turned it on now and I will go look for the latest version of nifskope, Tnq tnq Edited January 31, 2013 by Cruel112
