I've picked/unpicked the mods I want to use and I intend to use the vanilla start. Should all or most of the mods be deactivated through the first portion of Helgen? You may want to do another partial play-test with all the mods active at game start. The game time update timers used by some mods won't initialize till after the player's hands are cut free or has been otherwise given full control of their character. If any mods utilize the game time update timers and haven't taken this limitation into consideration then they may not work. You might be lucky and have no problems starting with everything activated, but you might not, and you might not see the problems for a while. Its really a matter of patience now or possible frustration later--I guess the answer depends on how willing you are to accept the risk and the potential resulting consequences.
