NodTuGud
ran for three hours few problems. Now without any changes to LOD or mods and its CTD ever 10 minutes.
WatchMeGoing
The best thing about this DLC are the dungeon designs. I haven't seen them all yet, but so far nothing but pleasant surprises. And the ability to craft and use magic spiders is fantastic.
Zero11s
Its not worth buying: I consoled myself out of the first Miraak Sequence and wasn´t able to get up in the giant mushroom. Game Over :geek: Its just a goddamn Bugfest!
Georgiegril
I am finally playing it, after buying it in the summer sale. I had been using 7 ugrids everywhere, for well over a year, no problems. However, I found it impossible to use that in Solstenheim. I was CTDing every ten minutes. After reverting to 5 ugrids, the CTDs are gone. I don't use the unofficial patches and so far it seems like I really don't need them (though I have a lot left to do there, so I can't really attest to a bug-free experience.) I am quite enjoying it, more so than Dawnguard. Maybe not quite as much as Wyrmstooth, so if you haven't tried that mod yet and are not convinced about DB, maybe check Wyrmstooth out first. RatcatcherOfKvatch
I liked everything about it. There was also one in-game feature I loved to hate. Once you start down the path far enough to attract Miraak's personal notice you will feel a very strong motivation to finish him off as quickly as possible. I won't say why, but when you hear yourself saying, "Miraak, you b*stard, not again!" then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. (And you'll hear yourself saying that at least once, I promise.) I always complain a lot so I should really have some complaints about Dragonborn, but I can't really think of any. There's humor, there's adventure, the island feels like part of the rest of the world, it's connected to the world, it belongs moreso than Dawnguard even, if I had to compare, although Dawnguard suffered from being set in a Skyrim built before Dawnguard's population existed. With Solstheim being a new land everyone in it belongs there. Okay maybe this counts as a complaint: I don't think I ever managed to get the Skaals to actually trade with me. They have theoretical shops and traders, but for whatever list of reasons they're never available. I'm sure eventually I'd have done enough quests and hung around long enough to hit the right hours for the shops to open, but I don't believe in practice I ever managed to sell a single item in Skaal Village. I did a bunch of quests for them, thinking, "As soon as I finish this one surely at least one shop will open," but alas I was to be perpetually frustrated. It's a small island, though, so that's a pretty minor complaint. Oh, right, about the missing shops: you get a portal to a safe container you can open anywhere in Solstheim. Do I care if the shops never open if I can just stuff everything in an Oblivion box? You can stuff all kinds of things in your Oblivion Box and never worry about encumbrance anywhere on the island ever again. Who cares if the Skaal shops never open? SayinNuthin
you get a portal to a safe container you can open anywhere in Solstheim. Do I care if the shops never open if I can just stuff everything in an Oblivion box? You can stuff all kinds of things in your Oblivion Box and never worry about encumbrance anywhere on the island ever again. Who cares if the Skaal shops never open? You couldn't PM me with details of that could you? I've been through the DLC half a dozen times and not come across it. Having said that I've had to 'setstage' through DLCMQ06 about half the times, then 'Help Miraak' to aquire all his gear. . Which is a real shame because for a little island Solstiem has almost as much variety and diversity as the whole of skyrim does, and for that alone it's worth the price. Though Bugsoft, sorry I meant Bethsoft really might have put a bit more work into the Main Quest! Akatosh only knows what it must be like on a game-console with no tilde-command. I especially liked meeting some Mer who were not complete dickheads like the Thalmor (and I know the Dunmer are a different race but I play imperials as a rule and they all look the same to me) - or if they are dickheads they're at least highly entertaining ones. Neloth's boundless arrogance is hilarious and Ralis's droll delivery always makes me smile 'You go make the draugr dead again' Dislikes; the Rieklings, what are those ugly leprechauns suposed to be? Not normally given to genocide but those bad tempered pixies offend my aesthetic sensibilities. And the ocasional 'bum note' like the blacksmith saying 'you can't just go around taking things from other people' Yea' right. . Mallory. . Finally has anyone else noticed that if you do Dragonborn before the main Skyrim and Dawnguard main quests some of the powers and spells you get cause chaos when used. Try 'bend will' at the battle for Whiterun or summon an Ash Guardian and it all goes very flakey fast. That said, that Ash Guardians are excelent againt Dawnguard's gargoyles so maybe it's just my setup. Overall the best DLC of the lot and definatly the most ambitious. P.S. There is a Dragon riding 'control 'mod - if you have apowerfull enough rig to go barreling across cell after cell.
RatcatcherOfKvatch
Hah hah, I absolutely loved Neloth. Hilarious! To me most Altmer are Fascist d**kheads while Dunmer as a group are the most consistently "normal" people anywhere. I have no trouble telling them apart. That doesn't mean I'm reflexively anti-Altmer. Faralda I think understands the Thalmor better than anyone else at the College after ... you know, everything goes wrong and you become Archmage. I'm just saying if you pick a name out at random and its owner is Altmer there's a really good chance you've picked a Fascist d**khead. I always figured Rieklings for some kind of evolutionary dead-end somewhere between falmer and goblin. Their hostility made me completely unconcerned with how many lives it cost them. The blacksmith was a hypocritical jerk, but most thieves are. You don't get ahead in that profession by permitting as much theft as you perpetrate. The Oblivion Gates to the Oblivion Crates are the Black Books. I've found at least 2 so far that have containers on their final platform, where you return to after you've cleared a Book if you open it again. I ran a bunch of tests and the containers seemed to be safe. You can even stash stuff in them, travel to Skyrim for over 30 days, then return to Solstheim and your stuff will still be there. It's a great place to stash your Ancient Nord Pickaxe.
MidevalGuy
I thought "Dragonborn" was well done. Very stable and very immersive, IMO. It's no secret it's a giant fanservice to those who loved Morrowind, and it only proves Morrowind redone on a modern engine would probably blow every single previous TES game out of the water if they did it right e.g. not just the setting and atmosphere, but if they also brought back some of the more complex game play mechanics that were stripped in Oblivion and Skyrim. Add in modern sensibilities like quest markers to help normal people who have lives and who don't want to wander around for 30 minutes just to trigger a non-combat fetch quest and it would probably be GOTY weeks after release.
