miataguy
I installed a mod for Bobbleheads a while back and I'm having zero luck finding them. The description about the Mod said that there is file in separate a RAR file with location clues. I have no idea what an RAR file is or where to find it. Can someone please help me? I'd really appreciate it.
gnarly1
A .rar file is an archive (a compressed file) and you need an app to open it. Try WinRAR or 7zip. Easy to find on Google.
M48A5
Which bobblehead mod? Five of them show up in the search and after checking the descriptions, most come with the locations in a .txt file. One even has screen shots of the locations.
miataguy
Thanks, But WHERE is the RAR file? I mean, where can I find it, where should I look for it? Is the file downloaded with the Mod? Would it be in Program files? I've looked as far as I know how (which isn't very much) , but I don't know where it is. I've never had to look for one before.... dubiousintent
So you don't have to rely upon "luck" so much next time: The archive package may also include some documentation file(s). These could have any extension typical of a "word processing" or "text" program such as ".txt", ".doc", ".rtf" or ".pdf". Some mod creators have adopted the practice of placing such into a "docs" folder under the game "Data" folder (e.g. "Data\docs") when the archive is unpacked. Others just leave them in the same folder as their other "assets" when "installed", depending upon the folder structure of the archive. Sometimes that means they are just placed in the "Data" folder. Examining the folder structure of the package "contents" with the appropriate archive tool will tell you where they will be located.-Dubious- Edited August 30, 2020 by dubiousintent
M48A5
The mod is packed as a .rar file as opposed to a .7z file. This is just a compressed file created with the Microsoft program WinRar. It is the file you downloaded from the mod site. Assuming you have either WinRar or 7Zip, you would use one those programs to extract the contents of the compressed file. When extracted, you will have all the .txt files explaining the location of the bobbleheads.
