Baz1963
Good morning/afternoon/evening* (*delete as applicable) Vortex: 1-1-2-20 Game: Skyrim SE Platform: Win 10 64bit RAM: 64 Gb OUTLINE I have recently switched to Skyrim SE after reading how much better it was for modding. I am a complete novice, having only used the steam workshop previously. I have downloaded Vortex a few days ago and started installing mods under the tutelage of Gophers mods, but I hit a huge problem with SKSE64 and after two days I decided it would be easier to delete everything and start again - which I did, and I cleaned out all the folders associated with the Skyrim SE and Vortex (to the best of my knowledge), then reinstalled. NB. The mod staging folder was in its own folder on my games drive, but not within Steam itself. THE PROBLEM I have reinstalled Vortex to wherever it desires as I have no control over that, which is on a separate drive to all things Steam related. But decided on a different folder name as Vortex insisted on installing SKSE my mod staging folder which I had called D: Vortex mods/Skyrim SE, ( I used the Vortex prompt to install SKSE btw, I didn't install it myself as such). So This time I chose a different path to avoid confusing Vortex - D: Vortex mods/Newrim SE. But on initialization Vortex says there is no staging folder allocated, and if I browse to the 'Newrim SE' folder I created it will not allow me to apply that name. It will suggest 'Vortex mods' or 'Vortex/Skyrim SE' or 'New Folder' within Vortex mods. I know this is trivial looking at some of the problems in the Forums, but WHY?! Why can't I select my own location for my mod downloads? I think I have my facts right. I am assuming that Vortex is remembering more than I would like it to. Thank you in advance. HadToRegister
Vortex stores all of its info in C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\Vortex\You deleted everything, but left the folder where vortex stores all of its info untouched.Your problem sounded like it could've been fixed WAY before you took the drastic steps of uninstalling and deleting everything.I wish you had come to the forums and asked for help BEFORE you took such drastic steps, because it sounded like an easy fix.We get far to many people in here asking for help AFTER they've gone to extreme measures, and I wish that would change. The problem you described, was just a problem with SKSE64, which could have been as simple as you might have accidentally downloaded SKSE for Skyrim Legendary Edition, rather than SKSE64 for Skyrim Special Edition.
