TBSteve
Hello all - just returned to modding after a long absence, and obviously just trying to make sure I'm utilizing Vortex properly. I have the mod staging folder on the same drive as my Fallout New Vegas, but not in the same directory obviously. I encountered a small issue that I'm assuming was caused by a step that I missed. Upon opening Vortex, the game was found and the script extender was installed/enabled. However, when I tried to open the game via the NVSE launcher, it said the game directory couldn't be found. Are we still supposed to open via the NVSE launcher? The only remedy I found was placing the contents of the NVSE folder into the game directory folder. Is Vortex supposed to do this automatically, or did I miss something? Thank you in advance!
HadToRegister
It's easier to manually install it, Other people like to install it with Vortex, but often they end up with a NVSE folder in their Game root directory instead of the NVSE filesThe Dlls, and NVSE_Loader.exe need to be in the same directory as the Fallout New Vegas EXE
TBSteve
I figured they needed to be - so I shouldn't have any further issues with mods from here on out, correct? Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me and it was Vortex. Lol

If they were just zipped up to the ROOT of the zip file, they'd install just fine, but instead, the script extender is put inside a folder with the name of the version number of the script extender, and THEN zipped up, so if you extract it, or Vortex extracts it, you'll end up with a folder called something like "nvse_5_1_beta4" which, when running the NVSE_Loader.exe from inside that folder, will give you the "Game not found" error

They are supposed to be put in the NVSE plugin folder in the Data folder - neither of which went there, they went to the Vortex mod folder. There has to be an issue going on here, somewhere? TBSteve
Basically, everything I download is going to the directory and there is nothing in my Data folder. Unofficial patches included. Correct me if I'm wrong, I can't just drag and drop esm files?
TBSteve
So my auto-deploy function was the culprit. Turned that off, deploy them manually, now they are deploying.
