SBW Alternitive?

Er, running SBW with Dragonborn just fine here. Don't know what's up with your setup then but it's obviously worth a rechecking of everything as I don't think there's an alternative to SBW.

Um, I have not played for ages. How do you load it? You used to just run the exe instead of official exe. This no longer works and the comment thread is pages of people with same problem.

I have no other mods installed as this is a fresh install for a new toon and dlc. Only have skyui and that script thing.

Can you tell me how you get it to work?

I haven't made any changes to the way SBW runs - so it's the same as before: place SBW.exe in "main" Skyrim directory (where TESV.exe is) and use SBW.exe to launch the game. It loads not only Skyrim but the latest SKSE automatically and without fault. Really don't know how this doesn't work for you (or anyone else).

FWIW: Using a recently reinstalled Windows 7 64bit - all updates now installed, Skyrim is latest everything (patch, all DLC, SKSE, NMM), all pc drivers up to date. I'm using a nVidia GPU - haven't checked your profile to see what you have but if it's ATI / AMD then perhaps that has something to do with it?

hmm... I use a win7 64bit + nvida.

Are you running the new DLC dragonborn? Caue when i bought that is when it stopped working. I have it placed in the exe dir, and I run it... the game loads as dose teh script thing but the window still has boarders... ctrl+enter dosn't do anything.. and the tray icon is not in the tray... it semas to crash as soon as the game loads.

I have a theory. You guys having trouble with SBW need to download the Dragonborn compatible SKSE version. If SBW is having trouble opening Skyrim, then don't have it open Skyrim - just have it open SKSE and SKSE can then open Skyrim. This way your game should open without trouble with a borderless windowed mode.

ATTK is a power loader type application which is used for performance gains by streamlining not only Skyrim itself but other factors such as altering Steam and even Windows.

@ Budz42 - SBW does look for SKSE and uses it to launch Skyrim by default if it's present. You therefore can't bypass anything, it's a use it or lose it situation.

@ jyujinkai - yup had Dragonborn on preorder as soon as it became available! Like I said, I launch SBW which then launches SKSE which then launches Skyrim in windowed mode, then a few seconds later it'll pop into borderless window mode. I've admittedly had the odd occasion where Alt+tab didn't work and had to Ctrl+Alt+Del my way to desktop, but most of the time it's fine and running as it should. If I were you I'd double check everything - starting with SkyrimPrefs.ini and ensure that the fullscreen setting is turned off. Check all other settings and mods, including using the latest SKSE (or even removing SKSE completely just in case that's causing an issue). Failing that, as a last resort do a complete reinstall of everything. Personally speaking I use Steams game backup facility so if I do a complete reinstall it only takes approx 30 mins to get Skyrim back into a new and freshly modded state.

yeah this is how it used to work.. but now it just stays with boarders and if i alt+tab out there is no icon in the system tray. The game is already a fresh install. I installed it for dragonborn.. there are no mods apart from SKSE and SBW and SkyUI
