noveltyh3ro
Hey guys, my problem today (I know I'm a bit nooby) is that I can't find a way to texture water. For example I want to add lava. I have the texture, texture set too but I just can't do it. I played around with it but still no success. Can anyone help me or at least point me in the right direction? LargeStyle
The main water texture is "defaultwater.dds" which can be found in Data\Textures\Water. Simply change or replace it and you'll have a new water effect. As for the colour, this is handled within the Creation Kit - specifically in the weather section. You'll have to adjust every single water colouring for the 4 time zones of each day (night, dawn, day, and dusk) and there's about 50+ weathers to adjust, so a total of approx 200+ edits. There may be a better way, but I doubt it.
noveltyh3ro
I see what you mean but I do not want to replace the texture. I want to add another one :/For weather I created my own section. Very easy as it is a tropical island so it will have lots of sun and maybe raining season. Is this possible? or am I just walking into a dead end
ilikecheese1337
I think the Dawnguard DLC has lava/molten metal in the Aetherium Forge. You could use that or copy and edit it.
noveltyh3ro
hmm thanks for telling me..i will check it out and try to use it in my mod. Not a lot of people like Dawnguard, so I will not make it a requirement but I will find way around it.

jet4571
That might be really hard to do since Bethesda stripped the water editor from Lightspeed when they reworked it into the CK, if we had that part of the editor it would take like 3 seconds to do lol. If it is an interior water then a new water model would work but you may not be able to do it for an exterior water like the lakes and rivers without tiling your water model. So you probably will need to open one of the waters models in nifskope and change the filepath to your new textures and make a new object for it.
