kvnchrist
Have you ever gotten the idea that the universe doesn't like you? Didn't the same thing happen back around the turn of the 19th century. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/15/hundreds-injured-meteorite-russian-city-chelyabinsk
AurianaValoria1
Considering how many of those rocks are passing by and coming towards the Earth at any given time, we're lucky it does not happen more often than it does.
VictoriaG
Apparently a bigger one is due to pass very close at 19:25 GMT this evening, fingers crossed their calculations are correct!
BlackRampage
Yes, more or less the same thing did indeed happen around a century ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunguska_event
Tamujiin
Meh.... we have 1000's of meteors enter the earth every day. The asteroid, passing by today, could cause some damage, yah, but its only the size of an olympic swimming pool, half that would burn up before it hit the ground. If it hit a populated area, it would be bad. Although it does have more of a chance, to hit the oceans. which in that case, not much would happen, maybe a tsunami. Maybe nothing. I am proud to say, this is the first oppurtunity in modern history to record such events.... if it even happens, And/or if that was even a meteorite...... eltucu
It was a meteorite shower. Not a single meteorite. There were many explosions around besides the big blast that damaged the city.
