My PC is dying. I'm going now. I may be some time!

Recommended Posts

Just a hurried note to let you all know that I have no internet access other than my PC. It's dying, crashing regularly etc, or it loses graphics without totally crashing. Sometimes it just freezes or gets unresponsive.

New PC ordered. Don't know when I'll get it or transfer everything onto it. Hopefully PC here next week. Just waiting for Ryzen 7 3700x CPU.

If I've joined any threads recently, I'm not being rude by not answering.

I'm trying to devote what time I can to checking all essential files such as my esp files, textures, nifs etc are all backed up on external hard drive.

I may not even reply to any comments in this thread, at least until I've done the essentials.

I'm down to copying things like ini files and looking at any personal preferences I've set up now, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to let you know.

Typing this a sentence at a time, saving and editing!

I thought spilling a glass of water over it trying to avoid tripping over the cat only destroyed the GPU... looks like it did way more damage than that!

I won't join any more threads at the moment... seems a bit pointless.

Bye for now... happy modding!

P.S. Don't pour water into your PC/laptop. Apparently it's not a good idea!

I feel you man, but there are worse circumstances...

Around 1,5 years ago i went to the local mini market to buy some groceries, it didn't took me more than half an hour, when i returned, my desk was on fire !!!, i had left a small aromatic candle that from the wind it fell next to curtains.

I lost a 6000 thousands euros i7 (only the tower costed that much), that half of it at that time i was still in debt... ouffff..., not to mention the monitor, tv, surround system, electronics and the furnitures in my house office.

He's back!

He's the man behind the mask

And he's out of control!

Well not quite out of control... no more so than usual, anyway.

After a couple of teething problems, the new PC is up and running... sort of. I still need to see what programs will run or need to be downloaded afresh. I used my old drives, so that's a help.

@maxarturo, ouch! I've only really cost myself a bit of effort and a couple of hundred pounds for a GPU while I still thought the old PC might be rescued.

@DoctorKaizeld, that's correct. Their sweet little faces are just to lull you into a false sense of security while they wait for the moment to strike. They approve of the internet only so far as using their malevolent powers to influence people to flood the thing with their propaganda... images and vids of cute kittens. Before too long they will have bent the wills of all humankind. Then they will take over the world.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to tinker around for a while still. Not tried CK yet, nor anything relating to modding except paint.net, which runs.

The new PC is built in a BeQuiet 'silent' case and is really very good... should help a lot with sound quality on voice acting.

I like that!

I love my cat and know to give her the utmost respect. At some point before my PC went up in smoke I must have ignored one of her demands. It's just her way of bringing me back into line. All humans need some discipline in their lives.

For now I'm struggling most with jumping straight from Windows 7 to 10. It's making me want to jump out of windows 3 to 5 (they are the ones on the first floor and attic room).

What I could do in seconds is now taking an age.
