Question about "redundant"

Hi!

I've got question about Vortex and redundant message.

Can anyone explain to me how does it work? I get it that "if Vortex says these mods are redundant, that they're redundant and useless"....

But how does it really work? I mean...

For example, I downloaded some mod, I don't know. Let it be "Ai Overhaul" mod. Then I downloaded polish translation for it, cuz I'm polish.

Set it to "translation patch" after mod and then Vortex says that Ai Overhaul is redundant. What is that mean? Ai Overhaul doesn't work at all now?

I got much more mods that works this way. Patches/translations etc and got a lot of messages about redundant. How does it work and how should I use this?

Thanks for at least trying to explain this to me

It just means they alter similar stuff and vortex is saying one is basically overwriting the other completely. When that is the case one of those mods become redundant as the other one won't do anything. In this case though it can be ignored as patch type mods tend to get this message a lot.

Well, you can ignore it in that an obsolete mod has no effect but there is also no drawback to disabling it.

The point of the message is rather: If a mod is denoted as obsolete and you don't think it is then either you misunderstood how the mod works/is supposed to be installed or it got corrupted and is actually incomplete.

In your specific case the polish translation is not just the translation, it's a full copy of the original mod with the texts replaced which means you don't need the original AI Overhaul mod. It's not that it doesn't work, it's just fully, 100%, no exception replaced.

The original AI Overhaul mod contains just one file: "AI Overhaul.esp". The polish translation also contains one file: The exact same one. You don't need both, you just need one. That's what the message is telling you.
