LilyMu
Hi, I posted several months ago about experiencing extremely slow download speeds with a Premium membership. The problem didn't resolve itself (and I found no solution), so I dropped Premium at some point. Now I'm trying Premium again and I still am getting the same download speeds as before--under 2 MB/s regardless of which server I'm on. I'm at a loss here as to what I should do. When I had Premium over a year ago, my download speeds were fine (up to 30-40 MB/s, which is what I should be getting still). However, one thing I learned since my last post is that I seem to only have this issue on my desktop. I recently tried plugging the same ethernet cable that I use on my desktop into my laptop, and everything was downloading at 40+ MB/s from the Chicago server. If needed, I can try doing the tests on my laptop, as well. Any help would be appreciated. Here are the results of my recent test (desktop): Country: US Internet Service Provider (ISP): Comcast Download tests:Amsterdam: 700~ KB/sPrague: 600~ KB/sLA: 800~ KB/sChicago: 1.9 MB/s (capped to 2,001 KB/s, then instantly dropped back to 1.9 MB/s)Miami: 1.3 MB/sSingapore: 250 KB/sDownload links:Large file: https://chicago-premium.nexus-cdn.com/110/607/COMPLETE%20FULL-607-1-7.zip?md5=h9zzXws-yRRScAO8QySqkA&expires=1602727396&user_id=52338541&rip=73.60.145.187Small file: https://cf-files.nexusmods.com/cdn/1704/1137/Ordinator%209.30.0-1137-9-30-0-1601725217.zip?md5=qshQuhaY4_wMxqYcplY_pw&expires=1602727385&user_id=52338541&rip=73.60.145.187TraceRoute results: C:\WINDOWS\system32>tracert files.nexus-cdn.comTracing route to files.nexus-cdn.com [185.246.209.245]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.0.0.1 2 8 ms 9 ms 11 ms 96.120.65.189 3 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms 96.110.30.137 4 8 ms 9 ms 9 ms 96.108.71.245 5 10 ms 9 ms 11 ms 96.108.71.45 6 14 ms 13 ms 14 ms be-32041-cs04.newyork.ny.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.42.13] 7 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms be-1402-cr02.newyork.ny.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.38.46] 8 35 ms 33 ms 33 ms be-10305-cr02.350ecermak.il.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.85.202] 9 33 ms 31 ms 33 ms be-1102-cs01.350ecermak.il.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.36.97] 10 34 ms 32 ms 33 ms be-2111-pe11.350ecermak.il.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.33.194] 11 30 ms 30 ms 31 ms 96-87-9-18-static.hfc.comcastbusiness.net [96.87.9.18] 12 30 ms 30 ms 31 ms unassigned.cdn77.com [185.229.188.83] 13 * 31 ms * unn-185-246-209-245.datapacket.com [185.246.209.245] 14 * 32 ms * unn-185-246-209-245.datapacket.com [185.246.209.245] 15 32 ms * 32 ms unn-185-246-209-245.datapacket.com [185.246.209.245]Trace complete. HadToRegister
Since you're having slow speeds on your desktop, but fast speeds on your laptop, you've shown that the problem lies with your desktop, and that you should compare your network setting on your laptop vs your desktop in the control panel.Obviously your desktop has something set much differently than your laptopYou have slow downloads on your desktop due some a problem with your desktop, either the network settings, or an AV program that insists and scanning every single thing sent and received to the internet etc.You should start comparing and troubleshooting between the two
LilyMu
Thanks for the reply. Exactly what settings should I be looking for? I've searched around and ended up changed several properties on my desktop to match my laptop's settings, but my downloads aren't any better. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask! Pickysaurus
Interesting. Do you have anything that controls traffic on your laptop? Or perhaps settings on your router? As HTR says, if you get full speed on your laptop then it's not a connection problem but something local to that machine's setup.
LilyMu
I shouldn't have anything that controls traffic, unless it's something inbuilt that I'm not aware of (which may well be the case). I checked my router's settings last night, but I wasn't sure what could be affecting it.
LilyMu
Is there anything specific that I should try? Nexus is the only site that I've ever had this issue with, and I'm not well-versed in network related things. Thanks for the help so far.
