hocusfucus2
I used NMM for YEARS without any issue but I made the switch to Vortex when support dropped and it's been only issues ever since. I managed to get everything I wanted installed and working after a lot of headache and swearing about a year ago and haven't looked at mods since. But I yesterday I decided to look for some more mods, fired up Vortex... and it said I didn't have any mods. I do have mods, they are working in game. It says I don't have a staging folder, I do have a staging folder with the Vortex staging file and everything. Like I said, THIS ALL WORKED not even a full year ago and now it's all broken. I don't even know where to begin fixing this
HadToRegister
Well, what game are you modding? In the year you haven't played, what have you changed on your computer?Have you swapped out hard drives?Have you installed new drives?Have you reinstalled windows?Have you moved vortex folders and files around OUTSIDE of Vortex using Windows Explorer? The only way Vortex could lose track of the Mod Staging folder is1. it was moved OUTSIDE of Vortex2. It's on a drive that had it's letter changed (IE D:\ to E:\) etc3. the C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\vortex folder was deletedWHAT Error Messages are you getting? The more info the betterAlso, don't do anything until someone helps you, people tend to keep messing with an easily fixable problem and turn it into a completely unfixable mess by 'experimenting' when trying to fix it. VulcanTourist
Dude, you're in the extreme minority and trying to preach to the wrong choir here. What exactly is your goal with this post? It's certainly not a constructive one. Need an authoritative number to quantify your minority? Here it is, from @Dark0ne himself at Reddit:I did the numbers for the past couple of months on Friday. It's now 69% Vortex, 14% NMM, 16% MO2, 1% others. Seemingly the NMM userbase is gradually dwindling and people switch to either MO2 or Vortex depending on preference. If you want constructive help, then ask for it. If you want to vent, this is not the place.

No changes have been made to this computer. No folders have been moved. No folders were deleted. The only error message was there was no staging folder. Trying to set it to the current staging folder only gives an error message that the staging folder must be empty. What exactly is your goal with this post? It's certainly not a constructive one. Same to you. that sounds to me very much like you fired up and used NMM or any other mod manager and there are mods in your folder that vortex doesn't know about, and won't delete because it doesn't know about them and it's telling you, you've got stuff in your directory that it doesn't know about and it thinks it should be empty. honestly, i'm going to go with what vortex is telling you over your recall that nothing at all has changed. unlike people, programs are exceedingly honest. Guest deleted34304850
ok are you going to play the "help me fix my mess" game, or are you just going to be a contrarian?if its the former, then dish up some useful information, if it's the latter then your work here is done. your choice. by the way, given your irrational triggering by a certain series of 0's and 1's there's another set of 0's and 1's you may know as NMM which is freely available from the same place you downloaded vortex a year ago. you can download that and install it and all your problems will be solved and you can stop "hating" a computer program. You made an incorrect assertion and I corrected it and now I'm a contrarian? Ok. I have a folder with the mods (which all are working), the __vortex_staging_folder file, and vortex.msgpack, how do I get vortex to recognize this folder as the staging folder?
