Hi guys.

 

So after Mod Organiser decided to kill me my stable and longest play through I've had to start again from scratch rebuilding my mod list and game.

 

I've meticulously gone through my mods in LOOT cleaning all dirty mods. To the point where I have no errors and only one dirty mod which is a navmesh error with Master the Summit. An error thats always been there with no issues.

I've installed every patch that I might have missed, as recommended in LOOT.

Finally I've reordered my load order via LOOT to a supposed correct stable working one.

 

Now time to test it. I load up SKSE64 launcher via MO and the game starts fine. Go to new to start a new test character and it moves to the usual black loading screen. Animated smoke and the level 1 progress bar.

 

Then it CRASHES!!!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

 

I'm totally lost now and at the end of my tether. This has got to be my tenth attempt at making a stable game.

First of all I appreciate your reply however if you had read my post you'll know all my mod fault fixing was done through LOOT.

 

Also our mod lists are vastly different, sorted through LOOT or not, and yours won't bare any resemblance to mine......

You do realize that LOOT has no idea whether those ITMs are necessary for the mod to function properly?

 

The conventional advise is to clean nothing but the Update.esm and the three DLCs, and even doing that is a precaution and not a necessity. Although I do believe that if you have a large mod load it would be a wise precaution.

 

I have been playing Legendary since 2011 and SSE since it first came out and have never cleaned anything but those four .esm files I mentioned and have never had a problem that could be attributed to a dirty mod.

 

Having said that you should keep in mind that every-bodies computer and mod load is unique to that individual. What you should keep in mind also is that cleaning those four files has a very low potential to affect your game while cleaning all those plugins has the very real potential to affect your game.

The fact that this is your 10th attempt at creating a stable modded game strongly suggests that you don't know enough about finding and resolving mod conflicts to be successful especially when you consider how many mods you have in your modlist.

 

Knowing how to use LOOT is just one aspect of creating a stable modded game. There's also aspects like reading and understanding mod descriptions to ensure you download the correct version/.esp and making the right modifications to the .ini file(s).

 

Also, given the number of mods you're using, you'll probably need to create your own compatibility patches for some mods, necessitating the use of xEdit or the CK.

 

Personally, if I were you, I would cut my losses and use the SE version of STEP to create a rock solid base, and then copy that profile in MO and add the other mods you want on top of that. At least then you've got a baseline of mods that you know work flawlessly together.

 

EDIT: Oh and admitting that you've given up isn't really going to encourage people to help you.....

I agree with gnarly, 10 tries isn't a lot.

I know it's not a "passion" for everyone but modding is time consuming and a pain in the ass but it's funny, enjoyable and to look at what you manage to achieve at the end is a great reward.


Like i'll say with dark souls newbies, try harder.
